A touch panel device includes a first conductive film having first and second regions, at least a part of the first conductive film between the first and the second regions being removed, a second conductive film laminated on the first conductive film across a gap, first and second terminals that output signals, a first electrode electrically connected to the first terminal, and a second electrode facing the first electrode across the first region. A switch may electrically connect the first conductive film to the second conductive film, in the second region.

A touch panel device includes a first conductive film having first and second regions, at least a part of the first conductive film between the first and the second regions being removed, a second conductive film laminated on the first conductive film across a gap, first and second terminals that output signals, a first electrode electrically connected to the first terminal, a second electrode facing the first electrode across the first region, a first resistor provided on the first conductive film in the second region and having a pair of electrodes, the pair of electrodes facing each other across a first resistance region in the first conductive film, one of the electrodes being electrically connected to the second electrode, the other of the electrodes being electrically connected to the second terminal, and a first switch electrically connecting the first conductive film to the second conductive film, in the second region.

A touch panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate disposed facing the first substrate, a first conductive layer formed on one surface of the first substrate, a second conductive layer formed on a surface of the second substrate that faces the first substrate, an insulating layer disposed between the first conductive layer and the second conductive layer, and a decorative layer disposed between the first conductive layer and the insulating layer. The decorative layer is electrically conductive and is disposed along an outer periphery of the first substrate. The insulating layer has a through-hole that extends from the decorative layer to the second conductive layer.

A touch panel device including: a first resistance film; a second resistance film opposed to the first resistance film; a pair of first electrodes that is arranged on the first resistance film, and applies a first voltage to the first resistance film; a pair of second electrodes that is arranged on both ends of the second resistance film in the same direction as an application direction of the first voltage; a first detector that is connected to the pair of the second electrodes, and detects voltages at the second electrodes, respectively; and a calculator that calculates coordinates of two points in the application direction of the first voltage based on the respective voltages detected by the first detector.

A touch panel device includes: a first resistance film and a second resistance film each of which includes an electrode; a switch connected to the electrode; a controller that controls operation of the switch; and a detector that, when a voltage is applied to a resistance film of a voltage applied side among the first resistance film and the second resistance film, detects presence or absence of touch and a position of the touch based on a voltage detected from the electrode on a resistance film of a voltage detection side among the first resistance film and the second resistance film; wherein before detection operation by the detector, the controller controls the operation of the switch connected to the electrode on the resistance film of the voltage detection side so that the electrode on the resistance film of the voltage detection side is grounded.

Touch panel device and method for controlling touch panel device

A touch panel device includes: a detection unit that detects coordinates of a pressed point on an input surface of a touch panel; and a correction unit that corrects the coordinates detected by the detection unit to obtain corrected coordinates, wherein the correction unit approximates, when a predetermined number of reference points arranged on the input surface are pressed, curves passing through coordinates of the reference points by second order or higher order polynomial equations, specifies, when an arbitrary point on the input surface is pressed, a region including coordinates of the arbitrary point from regions obtained by dividing the input surface by the curves, calculates distances from the coordinates of the arbitrary point to curves that define the specified region among the curves with the second order or higher order polynomial equations, and calculates the corrected coordinates based on a location of the specified region and the distances.

A touch panel including upper and lower electrode substrates including upper and lower conductive layers, respectively; first and second electrodes respectively provided at both ends of the upper conductive layer in a first direction for causing an electric potential distribution in the first direction; third and fourth electrodes respectively provided at both ends of the lower conductive layer in a second direction perpendicular to the first direction for causing an electric potential distribution in the second direction; a flexible substrate provided to be connected to the lower electrode substrate or the upper electrode substrate; a first resistor portion electrically connected to either of the first or second electrode and formed at the upper electrode substrate or the flexible substrate; and a second resistor portion connected to either of the third or fourth electrode and formed at the lower electrode substrate or the flexible substrate.

A touch panel apparatus includes a first substrate including a first conductive film, a second substrate including a second conductive film, a first terminal, a second terminal, a third terminal, and a fourth terminal respectively provided on the second substrate, and a controller. The controller calculates a potential difference between a measured potential and a reference potential of each of the first and second terminals with connecting the first and second terminals to the power source and the third and fourth terminals to the ground potential, and a potential difference between a measured potential and a reference potential of each of the third and fourth terminals with connecting the second and third terminals to the power source and the first and fourth terminals to the ground potential, determines a potential difference having a largest value, and calculates a relationship between two contact points based on the determined potential difference.

Touch panel apparatus and position detection method using the touch panel apparatus

A touch panel includes an upper electrode substrate having a rectangular shape and having an upper conductive film formed thereon, a lower electrode substrate having a rectangular shape and having a lower conductive film formed thereon, a first power feeding terminal, a second power feeding terminal, a third power feeding terminal, and a fourth power feeding terminal disposed on the lower conductive film at four respective corners of the lower electrode substrate, a first potential detecting unit configured to detect a potential of the second power feeding terminal, a second potential detecting unit configured to detect a potential of the fourth power feeding terminal, and a third potential detecting unit configured to detect a potential of the third power feeding terminal.
