The object of the invention is to provide a charging generator 1 which can avoid occurrence of overvoltage due to failure of equipment, which comprises: an a.c. generator 10 having armature windings 10a, 10b, 10c and a field winding 10d for generating an a.c.; a rectifier 11 having a plurality of power zener diodes 11a-11f having an intrinsic breakdown voltage Vz for converting the a.c. output from the armature windings to a d.c.; a current inhibit means which receives the d.c. output from the rectifier via field winding 10d and inhibits a field current which flows through the field winding; a voltage detection means for detecting a voltage of the d.c. output from the rectifier; and a voltage regulator 13, which includes a protection control means for controlling the current inhibit means in accordance with a result of judgment which is larger between a detected value of the d.c. voltage and a predetermined protection cut-off voltage VB, for regulating the d.c. voltage in the vicinity of the protection cut-off voltage VB by inhibiting the field current, and wherein the relationship between breakdown voltage Vz and protection cut-off voltage is set Vz&gt;VB.

Charging generator and voltage regulator therefor

A state of a plurality of switches for performing application and cutoff of a plurality of electrical loads is stored in a memory circuit. A pattern of supply power after application of the load for each of the plurality of electrical loads and a load response priority order assigned previously to each of the electrical loads are stored in a memory table. A control circuit identifies a newly applied load on the basis of the turned-on state of the plurality of switches stored in the memory circuit and instructs an electric power supply circuit to supply electric power in accordance with the supply power pattern corresponding to the identified load, while the control circuit prohibits application of the newly applied electrical load when an electrical load having the load response priority order higher than that of the newly applied electrical load has been already applied. The memory table may store consumption power and an application priority order assigned previously to each of the electrical loads. In this case, a total amount of consumption power of the applied electrical loads is calculated. When an electrical load having the application priority order lower than that of the newly applied electrical load has been already applied and the control circuit judges that the total amount of consumption power of the applied electrical loads exceeds a predetermined value, the control circuit instructs to cut off the electrical load having the lower application priority order.

Generation controller for a vehicle

The present inventions provides a generated-voltage regulator for an automobile, in which the on state of a key switch can be detected securely without being affected by a change in ambient temperature or the like. According to a selected embodiment, when a generation failure occurs in a power generation circuit 12, a power MOS FET 111 is turned on and off periodically so that a charge lamp 3 is lighted. The on/off state of the MOS FET 111 is detected by a detecting section 1121 of a voltage detecting circuit 112. Being supplied with an on signal from the detecting section 1121, a holding section 1122 turns the level of its output signal c to an 'H' level only for a predetermined period. As a result, the key switch 2 is not judged to be off even in the case where the MOS FET 111 is turned on, and the on state of a switch 116 is maintained. Accordingly, the power MOS FET 111 which is low in the level of the drain-source voltage thereof in an on state but is small in size, light in weight and small in a heat value, can be employed as a switching section for lighting the charge lamp. Consequently, there is provided a generated voltage regulator in which not only the on state of the key switch can be detected securely regardless of the change of ambient temperature or the like but reduction both in size and in weight can be attained.

A charging generator having a self-diagnosis function includes a self-diagnosis circuit, a storage device and an output device. When an anomaly is detected, the charging generator with a self-diagnosis function stores data concerning at least one anomalous condition of the generator and the contents of the anomaly in the storage device, and outputs the anomalous data concerning the generator or the contents of the anomaly, which are stored in the storage device, by inputting a specific signal from the outside.

An apparatus and a method for detecting abnormal combustion in an internal combustion engine and an apparatus and a method for controlling vibration caused by abnormal combustion. The apparatus for detecting abnormal combustion includes a unit for detecting the rotation of an internal combustion engine, a unit for calculating rotation angular acceleration on the basis of the detected rotation, a unit for comparing the rotation angular acceleration at the position of a predetermined crank angle in one cycle of the operation of the internal combustion engine with a predetermined reference value, and a unit for judging from the comparison result whether abnormal combustion occurs in the internal combustion engine. The apparatus for reducing vibration caused by abnormal combustion offsets vibration caused by abnormal combustion and vibration of an electric generator to each other by passing a pulse-like field current in the electric generator in response to detection of abnormal combustion to generate vibration torque in the electric generator.

Abnormal combustion detection and vibration reduction system

An apparatus induces vibrations in a generator for effectively reducing vibrations of a vehicle engine and the vehicle body due to irregular combustion of the engine. The load torque of a generator fixed to the engine is changed to generate an angle moment on the body of the generator to cancel engine vibrations due to rough idling and suppress body vibrations due to the rough idling. Irregular combustion of the engine is detected from a change in the engine speed, and a voltage higher than the output voltage of the generator is than applied across the field winding to increase the field winding current and hence the load torque on the generator, which induces vibrations on the generator body. When the generator vibrations and vibrations due to irregular combustion are in inverse phase relationship to each other, they are cancelled.

Apparatus for reducing vibrations of the body of a vehicle

In an engine control system of the type in which engine control data is calculated for each of a plurality of cylinders, rotation angular speeds of the crank shaft are sequentially detected as individual pistons of the plurality of cylinders take an identical, predetermined stroke position, for example, top speed position and rotation speed data and control data are calculated on the basis of the detected rotation angular speed.

A method of detecting the condition of combustion in each cylinder of an internal combustion engine while monitoring a variation in rotation of a crankshaft in the engine for each cylinder, in which the degree of irregular combustion is judged based on the magnitude of the rotational variation, and/or in which the condition of combustion in a succeeding cylinder is judged based on the difference between rotational variations within one combustion period, of adjacent cylinders, and/or in which the rotational ascending rate within one combustion period, of each cylinder is detected to judge the condition of combustion in the cylinder based on the dropping state of the rotational ascending rate, and/or in which the rotational angular acceleration within one combustion period, of each cylinder is detected to thereby judge that a predetermined cylinder is in a condition of irregular combustion when the quantity of the variation in rotational angular acceleration between adjacent cylinders exceeds a predetermined value.

Method and apparatus for detecting and controlling combustion condition

The present invention relates to an electrical protective circuit, used when abnormality occurs, in a vibration suppressing apparatus which changes the load torque on a generator such as an alternator fixed on the engine to generate an angle moment on the generator body to cancel rough idling engine vibrations to suppress vehicle body vibrations due to the rough idling. In the inventive vibration suppressing apparatus, a generator is fixed on the engine which generator includes a voltage regulator to control a field winding current such that a fixed voltage is output to a battery. The generation of engine rough idling is detected on the basis of either a change in the engine speed or a change in the engine vibrations. If rough idling is detected, a high voltage circuit is connected to the field winding to increase the field winding current and hence the load torque on the generator. In the inventive protective circuit, the battery voltage is compared with a predetermined reference value when no rough idling is detected. If the battery voltage exceeds the reference value, a changeover signal is generated and the high voltage circuit is disconnected from the field winding in response to the changeover signal.

Protective circuit in a device for reducing vibrations of a vehicle body

In a vehicle vibration reduction control apparatus for controlling an alternator driven by an engine to charge a battery in such a way that vehicle body vibration due to the engine can be cancelled by alternator vibration, the reference voltage applied to an alternator field coil is reduced by a predetermined value for a predetermined time period, whenever battery terminal voltage exceeds a predetermined level. Since the battery charging rate can be reduced automatically at battery overcharge due to cancellation of engine vibration by alternator vibration, it is possible to prevent the battery from being overcharged when engine vibration increases at idling, for instance.
