According to an embodiment of the present invention, a method of measuring a surface of an object having a curved shape by measuring a distance from a measurement head to the object, includes: setting a measuring region of the object and a threshold value of concave and convex; acquiring shape reference data including the curved shape of the object; acquiring three-dimensional data of the surface of the object by measuring the distance between the object in the measuring region and the measurement head; acquiring curve removed data by removing the shape reference data from the three-dimensional data; calculating second reference data by calculating first reference data based on the curve removed data, by removing data exceeding the threshold value with respect to the first reference data, from the curve removed data, and by averaging the curve removed data; and calculating shape data of the concave and convex.

An intake system for an internal combustion engine includes an intake manifold adapted to be attached to a side wall of the engine, and an air cleaner for supplying intake air to the intake manifold. The air cleaner is disposed opposite to the side wall of the engine while interposing therebetween the intake manifold. The air cleaner has an air cleaner main body joined with the intake manifold to constitute a single unit. Intake system for an internal combustion engine

An intake arrangement for a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine of a vehicle which has a row of cylinders. The arrangement includes an intake manifold, which includes a collector extending along a direction of the row of the cylinders and a branch portion communicated with the collector, a fuel pipe extending along the collector, and a protector extending along the fuel pipe between the branch portion and the fuel pipe. The fuel pipe is disposed at a downstream end portion of the branch portion which allows air to be introduced into the cylinders. The protector is secured to the downstream end portion of the branch portion and deformable to cover the fuel pipe upon an impact load being applied to the branch portion.

Intake arrangement for multi-cylinder engine

A rotary valve assembly for controlling flow passing through substantially parallel passages, is disclosed. A wall has a cylindrical bore extending transverse to the passages. An elongated rotor is rotatably supported at opposed ends thereof within the cylindrical bore. A plurality of axially spaced valves are disposed on the rotor so as to open and close the passages. A plurality of wall portions are disposed between the valves so as to isolate the adjacent passages. A C-ring is disposed on the respective wall portion of the rotor in sealing contact with the wall surface surrounding the cylindrical bore. An O-ring is disposed axially adjacent to the C-ring and adapted for reducing radial vibration of the rotor and cooperating with the C-ring to prevent leakage flow through the adjacent passages.
