An electromagnetic valve, which is provided between an intake port of a compressor body and a pneumatic line at an intermediate position of an intake pipe, is opened/closed by a control unit. Communication between the intake port of the compressor body and the pneumatic line is permitted when the valve is open, and is blocked when the valve is closed. In a start-up control of the compressor body, the electromagnetic valve is opened, permitting communication of the pneumatic line in the plant with the intake port of the compressor body for power supply to an electric motor to drive an orbiting scroll. Rattling of the orbiting scroll by an amount equal to the axial gap (play) is suppressed before starting a compression operation.

A scroll fluid machine comprises a fixed-side member including a cylindrical casing and a fixed scroll fixed to the casing, and an orbiting scroll and a plurality of ball coupling devices provided between the fixed-side member and the orbiting scroll to prevent self-rotation of the orbiting scroll on its axis and receive a thrust load between the fixed-side member and the orbiting scroll. This invention provides a scroll type fluid machine which can simultaneously realize the stabilization of the behavior in the rotational direction of an orbiting scroll and the reduction in the manufacturing cost by the ease of holding a grease. In the scroll type fluid machine, three pairs of rotation prevention mechanisms are provided between a casing and an orbiting scroll. The rotation prevention mechanism is constituted of first and second ball coupling mechanisms having a function different from each other. The first ball coupling mechanism supports the thrust load of the orbiting scroll. Meanwhile, the second ball coupling mechanism supports the rotation force of the orbiting scroll.

Scroll-type fluid machine that reduces centrifugal force of an orbiting scroll

The present invention provides a scroll type fluid machine realizing reduced attachment space in a casing and improvement in workability at the time of assembly and the like by using a plurality of ball coupling mechanisms. A plurality of ball coupling mechanisms are disposed between a casing and a rear side of an orbiting scroll. Each of the ball coupling mechanisms includes first and second thrust receivers (reception plates), a sphere, and a cylindrical ring. A thrust load to be applied to an end plate of the orbiting scroll is received between the first and second thrust receivers (reception plates) and the sphere. The cylindrical ring disposed between the first and second thrust receivers displays a so-called rotation preventing effect in such a manner that its outer peripheral surface makes a rolling contact with inner peripheral surfaces of cylindrical portions in association with an orbiting motion of the orbiting scroll.

In a seal system for a scroll type fluid machine, a seal mechanism is provided between a backpressure plate and a holder, so as to surround an orbiting backpressure chamber. The seal member comprises a seal attachment groove, a seal member and a Y-shaped packing. The seal attachment groove is stepped on its outer circumference to define a shallow bottom portion. The seal member includes, on its outer circumference side, a cutout portion matching the shallow bottom portion. The Y-shaped packing is disposed between a deep groove peripheral wall of the seal attachment groove and the cutout portion of the seal member, and a backpressure chamber is defined on a reverse surface side of the seal member. By this arrangement, a slide surface of the seal member can be larger than an effective area of the backpressure side of the seal member. Thereby it is possible to reduce a difference between a load Ff acting on the slide surface and a load Fb acting on the reverse surface.

A scroll fluid machine is capable of readily providing a back-pressure chamber having an increased pressure-receiving area and yet capable of being reduced in size. A fixed scroll member is secured to a casing. An orbiting scroll member is provided at a position facing the fixed scroll member. A holder is provided at the back of the orbiting scroll member, and a coupling member is provided to face the orbiting scroll member across the holder. The coupling member couples together the orbiting scroll member and a driving shaft and performs an orbiting motion together with the orbiting scroll member. A fixed scroll member has a spiral wrap portion. An orbiting scroll member has a spiral wrap portion similar to the wrap portion of the fixed scroll member. The wrap portion of the orbiting scroll member has its wall thickness increased at the inner peripheral surface side thereof to have a larger wall thickness than that of the wrap portion of the fixed scroll member. The inner peripheral surface of the wrap portion of the orbiting scroll member contacts the outer peripheral surface of the wrap portion of the fixed scroll member at two contact points. On the other hand, a clearance is formed between the outer peripheral surface of the wrap portion of the orbiting scroll member and the inner peripheral surface of the wrap portion of the fixed scroll member over the entire length of the peripheral surfaces. The orbiting scroll member is constantly urged in a direction in which rotational torque acts, and thus allowed to orbit smoothly.
