A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, comprising: a positive electrode; and a negative electrode, wherein the negative electrode has: a current collector comprising a porous metal body; and a negative electrode material disposed in pores of the porous metal body, the negative electrode material comprises a negative electrode active material comprising a silicon-based material, a skeleton-forming agent comprising a silicate having a siloxane bond, a conductive auxiliary, and a binder, and a content of the skeleton-forming agent in an outside in a surface direction of the negative electrode is higher than a content of the skeleton-forming agent in an inside in the surface direction of the negative electrode.

Provided is a cathode material capable of obtaining high energy density and superior instantaneous output characteristics in a lithium ion secondary battery. A mass ratio of FeFto LiVOof the cathode material is in a range of 86:14 to 43:57. The cathode material further comprises a conductive auxiliary.
