It is an object of the present invention to provide an organic electroluminescent element having a longer lifetime. In order to accomplish the object, an organic electroluminescent element adapted to comprise a light emitting layer including an organic material between an anode and a cathode is provided with a hole transport layer for transporting holes injected from the anode toward the light emitting layer. Along with the hole transport layer, an intermediate layer having an energy level of a lowest unoccupied molecular orbital lower than those of the hole transport layer and the light emitting layer is provided therebetween.

Organic electroluminescent element and display device or light emitting device equipped with the same

In an organic EL device, a hole injection electrode is formed on a glass substrate, and a hole injection layer, a hole transport layer and a luminescent layer are formed in turn on the hole injection electrode. An electron injection electrode is formed on the luminescent layer. The luminescent layer includes an organic iridium compound composed of a combination of a quinoline derivative and iridium. This organic iridium compound can emit red-orange light via a triplet excited state.

Organic electroluminescent device, luminescent material and organic compound

A hole injection layer, a hole transport layer, a blue light emitting layer, an orange light emitting layer, an electron transport layer, an electron injection layer, and a cathode are formed in this order on an anode. The blue light emitting layer is composed of a host material doped with an assisting dopant and a luminescent dopant emitting blue light. A material used for the hole transport layer is used for the assisting dopant. The orange light emitting layer is composed of a host material doped with a luminescent dopant emitting orange light.

Organic electroluminescent device

An organic EL device is provided which is capable of providing high luminance and high luminous efficiency. In an organic EL device, a hole injecting electrode lies on a glass substrate, and a hole injecting layer, a hole transporting layer, and a light emitting layer are sequentially formed thereon. An electron injecting electrode lies on the light emitting layer. The light emitting layer contains a host material, a light emitting dopant, and a first light-emission assisting dopant. The first light-emission assisting dopant is composed of a rubrene derivative.

Organic electroluminescent device and luminescent material

A display capable of preventing an emission layer from deterioration resulting from temperature rise of an electrode also when the same is increased in size and easily connectable with an external current source also when the same is connected with the external current source on a single portion is provided. This display comprises a first electrode formed on a substrate, an emission layer formed on the first electrode, a second electrode formed on the emission layer, a peripheral electrode, arranged to enclose the outer periphery of the second electrode and connected with at least three edges of the outer periphery of the second electrode, having a smaller sheet resistance value than the second electrode, and a current source connection terminal connected to the outer periphery of the peripheral electrode. Thus, current readily flows from the second electrode toward the peripheral electrode, while the current can be dispersedly fed along three or four directions.

Display including emission layer

A light emitting layer produces light having peak intensities in a wavelength range of not less than 460 nm and not more than 510 nm and a wavelength range of not less than 550 nm and not more than 640 nm, respectively. Each of a red color filter layer, green color filter layer, and blue color filter layer has a transmittance of 50% or more in a prescribed wavelength range and a transmittance of 10% or less in a prescribed wavelength range. The ratio of an intensity value of the light emitted from the light emitting layer at a wavelength of 575 nm to an intensity value of the light emitted at a wavelength of 475 nm is not less than 0.4 and not more than 4.0.

Organic electroluminescent display having a light emitting layer producing the wavelengths of red, green and blue

The light emitting layers and the electron transporting layers of R pixels, G pixels, and B pixels are formed to have a stripe shape extending in the column direction. The red light emitting layer and the electron transporting layer in R pixels are formed to be continuous layers using the same mask in a first vapor deposition chamber, the green light emitting layer and the electron transporting layer of G pixels are formed to be continuous layers using the same mask in a second vapor deposition chamber, and the blue-white light emitting layer and the electron transporting layer of B pixels are formed to be continuous layers using the same mask in a third vapor deposition chamber.

Organic electroluminescent display apparatus and method of fabricating the same

An organic electroluminescent device includes a hole-injecting electrode, an electron-injecting electrode and a blue light-emitting layer which is provided between the electrodes and contains a host material, a luminescent dopant and an assist dopant for complementing carrier transport of the host material. When the host material is an electron-transporting material, the assist dopant has a smaller absolute HOMO (Highest Occupied Molecular Orbital) energy level than the host material and a higher hole mobility than the host material.

Organic electroluminescent device and organic compound for use in organic electroluminescent device

An electron transport layer includes an electron transport material (host material) and a carrier transportable dopant. The carrier transportable dopant is contained 1% by weight to 50% by weight, preferably 1% by weight to 10% by weight for the electron transport material. A compound having a carbazole group or a derivative of the compound is employed as the carrier transportable dopant. A complex of an 8-hydroxyquinoline derivative and metal is employed as the electron transport material.

Organic electroluminescence element

A boundary region between blocks of a luminescent layer is provided in a region on a second insulating layer () parallel with a glass substrate. Blocks of an electron transporting layer () are formed on associated blocks of the luminescent layer. A lithium fluoride layer () and an electron injection layer () are successively formed on the electron transporting layer () seamlessly. Accordingly, a boundary between the blocks of the electron transporting layer () is vertically aligned with a boundary between the blocks of the luminescent layer.

A hole injecting electrode composed of ITO is formed on a glass substrate. On the hole injecting electrode, a hole injecting layer composed of CuPc (copper phthalocyanine), a plasma thin film of CFformed by plasma CVD, a hole transporting layer of NPB, and a light emitting layer are formed in the order. On the light emitting layer, an electron transporting layer is formed, and an electron injecting electrode is formed thereon.

Organic electroluminescent device having a thin film formed by plasma on a surface of a hole injection layer

A glass bottle containing a sample of an organic material to be purified is located at a position surrounded by a heater near one end in an outer glass tube. An inner glass tube for catching organic crystals obtained by recrystallization is located at a position near the other end in the outer glass tube. When the sample of the organic material is sublimed and purified, the inside of the outer glass tube is kept in a higher vacuum state (lower pressure) than 200 Pa by a vacuum pump. The sample inside the outer glass tube is heated by the heater, to sublime organic molecules of the sample contained in the glass bottle. The outer glass tube is provided with a temperature gradient, so that organic molecule vapor is cooled near the other end in the outer glass tube, and is recrystallized inside the inner glass tube.

Sublimation and purification method

A light-emitting device including a plurality of emission layers, which has improved luminous efficiency and improved emission lifetime, is provided. In the light-emitting device, a first optical film thickness range Lfrom a light-emitting position of a first emission layer to a light-emitting surface of the device, a second optical film thickness range Lfrom a light-emitting position of a second emission layer to the device light-emitting surface, and film thicknesses of a plurality of layers between the light-emitting surface and the first emission layer, the first emission layer and the second emission layer are set so as to increase the luminous intensity of color of an emission produced by mixing an emission from the first emission layer with an emission from the second emission layer.

Light-emitting device having a plurality of emission layers

An organic EL display in which organic EL devices are prevented from being degraded because of interfaces occurring between the luminescent layers and the electron transporting layers. In each of the organic EL devices, a red luminescent layer, a green luminescent layer, and a blue luminescent layer are formed on a hole transporting layer. An electron transporting layer is formed on the blue luminescent layer alone. The red luminescent layer and the green luminescent layer have the same thickness as the sum of the thicknesses of the electron transporting layer and the blue luminescent layer.
