A method for discriminating between Parkinson's disease and multiple system atrophy, the method comprising the steps of: (1) preparing a solution containing α-synuclein monomers having a tendency to produce rod-like aggregates and/or a solution containing α-synuclein monomers having a tendency to produce twisted aggregates; (2) adding a biological sample from a subject to the solution(s) containing the α-synuclein monomers prepared in step (1); (3) allowing the α-synuclein monomers to aggregate in the solution(s) obtained in step (2); and (4) detecting α-synuclein aggregates formed in step (3).

A first thick part and a second thick part are provided on a peripheral zone at both left and right sides such that each center-of-gravity position of both the first thick part and the second thick part is positioned below a horizontal diametrical line. Dye composition for ophthalmic lens, method for producing colored ophthalmic lens using the same, and colored ophthalmic lens

Provided is a colored contact lens in which a colored band is disposed at a boundary part between a dark part and a white part of an eye, and a density is gradually changed from the dark part to the white part of the eye such that the density of this colored band decreases from an inner circumference side to an outer circumference side. As a result, a novel colored contact lens is provided with which it is possible to bring out beauty of the white part of the eye, which has been ignored by conventional technology, while an impression is maintained that is as natural and elegant as possible by avoiding an artificial impression such as that found in conventional technology.

Disclosed is an implementation of new technology for effectively providing a contact lens capable of achieving satisfactory corrective effects even with respect to irregular astigmatism (residual irregular astigmatism) caused by a conical cornea and so forth, which could not be corrected with conventional eye glasses or contact lens, wherein the contact lens is not dependent on being made to order for each wearer but is industrially mass-producible by means of a practical and novel structure. A contact lens for correction of irregular astigmatism is disclosed wherein a positive correction area () is provided on one side of a special radial line () and a negative correction area () is provided on another side while in any of the correction areas () a lens power is configured so that an absolute value becomes progressively larger from an outer peripheral edge part towards a central portion.

A contact lens including a circumferential positioning member that can selectively set up a first stable state where a superficial center of a second power zone is decentered on a symmetrical meridian from a geometrical center of an optical zone and an orthogonal meridian perpendicular to the symmetrical meridian with the lens worn on a right eye is circumferentially tilted by a first angle relative to a vertical line of the eye, and a second stable state where the orthogonal meridian under condition in which the lens is worn on a left eye with the right eye wearing state inverted upside down is circumferentially tilted by a second angle on the opposite side of the first angle relative to the vertical line, as well as a visible indicator mark for identifying a lens orientation.

Tilted-wear type contact lens

A wearing-orientation selectable contact lens including: an optical zone; a first diopter power region provided in the optical zone; and a second diopter power region having a lens power that is more positive than that of the first diopter power region. A superficial center of the second diopter power region is decentered on a symmetrical meridian from a geometric center of the optical zone. A circumferential positioning member is provided so as to selectively set up: a first stable state where the superficial center of the second diopter power region is positioned to one of left and right side of the eye, and a second stable state where the superficial center of the second diopter power region is positioned to another of left and right side of the eye. A visible indicator mark is provided for identifying a lens orientation of the first stable state and the second stable state.

Wearing-orientation selectable contact lens

A trial lens has a lens surface provided with an index. A stable position of the trial lens on a cornea of a wearer thereof is measured by the use of the index. The position of an optical center of a contact lens to be worn by the wearer can be determined based on the measurement done with the index of the trial lens in order to set the position of the optical center of the contact lens so as to fit contact lenses on individual wearers.
