A communication device includes: a first and a second connectors that are connectable to an external device via a first and a second cables, respectively; a detector that detects attachment and detachment of the second cable to the second connector; and a controller that communicates information on attachment and detachment of the second cable to the external device via the first cable, changes a communication mode from a first mode to a second mode when the second cable is attached to the second connector, and changes the communication mode from the second mode to the first mode when the second cable is detached from the second connector, the first mode being a mode in which the controller communicates with the external device via the first cable, and the second mode being a mode in which the controller communicates with the external device via the first and the second cables.

A power supply controlling system includes a receiving device, a power supply device, and a transmitting device connected to an information processing apparatus. The receiving device includes a transmitting portion that transmits a switch signal of a power supply switch used for on/off of the power supply device to the transmitting device via second signal lines used for the reception of a second video signal, which are different from first signal lines used for the reception of a first video signal. The transmitting device includes an acquiring portion that acquires the switch signal from the second signal lines on which the second video signal and the switch signal are mixed, and an outputting portion that outputs the switch signal to the power supply device. The receiving device and the transmitting device are connected with a single cable including the first and the second signal lines.

A power supply controlling apparatus includes: a first determination portion that determines whether a power supply is output from an information processing apparatus that outputs a video signal and is connected to the power supply controlling apparatus; a second determination portion that, when it is determined that the power supply is output from the information processing apparatus, determines whether a switch signal that indicates turning off a power supply of a power supply device supplying the power supply to the information processing apparatus has been received from a remote device outputting the switch signal in response to the depression of a switch, the power supply device and the remote device being connected to the power supply controlling apparatus; and a discard portion that discards the switch signal when it is determined that the switch signal has been received from the remote device.
