When the power is normally supplied from the commercial power supply, the storage battery is charged by reducing the DC voltage by the charge/discharge chopper. The switching unit is provided in the previous stage of the converter. When the commercial power supply is in an abnormal state, the three-phase AC converter is operated as three discharge choppers connected in parallel by supplying the power of the storage battery to the converter and boosting the power by the switching element included in the converter. The power of the storage battery is boosted by the charge/discharge chopper, and a part of the discharging power is supplied. One three-phase AC reactor is provided in the previous stage of the converter, and the three-phase AC reactor has three coils, magnetic leg iron cores having the coils winding around them, and one leg without a coil winding around it connected in parallel.

A lighting equipment comprising a reflector having a substrate comprised of a thermoplastic resin containing an alicyclic structure on which is formed a reflecting layer having a reflectance of at least 70%. The reflecting layer of the reflector is preferably comprised of a metal. The reflecting layer preferably has a thickness of 5 to 10,000 nm. The amount of the repeating units containing polar groups in the thermoplastic resin containing an alicyclic structure is preferably not more than 50 wt %. The thermoplastic resin containing an alicyclic structure preferably has a melt flow rate of 4 to 100 g/10 min.

A light guide plate which is made of a polymeric resin having an alicyclic structure and has recesses for reflection formed on a light reflecting surface, the recesses being so arranged that the density of the recesses increases with the distance from a light source. Each recess is preferably a V-shaped groove each having an angle of 70&deg; to 150&deg; and a depth of 1 &mgr;m to 1000 &mgr;m or a groove which is long and approximately perpendicular to the direction in which light is incident at any position on the light reflection surface.

By using a polymeric film having a dielectric loss tangent of 0.002 or less measured at a frequency in the range of 1 kHz to 1 GHz at a temperature of 25 &deg; C., heat generation of dielectric loss of capacitors can be reduced and rising of temperature can be inhibited, and, can highly stand the rise of temperature, whereby further miniaturization and increase in capacity of capacitors become possible. Furthermore, the problems in handling that the films are apt to cut or become entangled at the rewinding step can be greatly improved by using polymeric films which are 1 or less in friction coefficient between the films of the same material. Accordingly, the polymeric films are excellent in performance of insulator film, namely, small in dielectric loss tangent, and, moreover, are free from the problems in handling that the films are apt to cut or become entangled at the rewinding step. Furthermore, the polymeric films are suitable for film capacitors.

A camera having a selective rapid picture-taking exposure mode includes detection circuitry for detecting at least one of information on the distance to an object and information on a defocus amount corresponding to the object. The detection circuitry having a detection field area changeable between a wide field area and a narrow field area. Changing circuitry is provided for changing the detection field area of the detection circuitry to a narrow field area when the rapid picture-taking exposure mode is selected. Disclosed is an intermediate adapter to be used between the camera body and the photographing lens during close-up photography. A light beam splitter in the adapter housing projects part of the light from the lens to a sensor to produce an electric signal. An illumination device that lights a subject to be photographed is controlled by the signal produced by the light split by the light beam splitter. The beam splitter includes a diffraction arrangement that directs a portion of the light from the path to the film.

A system for close-up and copy photography is so designed that a zoom lens whose total barrel length remains unchanged during zooming operation is attached to a camera as the master lens with an adapter being attached to the zoom lens and with a fixed focus lens being attached to the adapter on the side opposite the side to which the zoom lens is attached. The fixed focus lens is arranged in a position reversed from the position in which it would normally be used, that is, with its object side facing the zoom lens and with its image side facing toward an object to be photographed. The adapter may have a filter mount mechanism and a securing stand attached to the adapter for holding an object to be photographed is structured to permit illumination of the object.
