The cumulative consumption information calculating unit temporarily stores the information for the quantity of toner consumption in a memory, and reads out the information from the memory at predetermined timing. Accordingly, it is possible to determine only the cost for developer used by a user or calculate the quantity of developer remaining within an image formation apparatus based on the cumulative consumption information for the unadjusted developer stored in the memory.

A reading lens for a scanner to read an original in a reduced magnification, the lens comprising six lenses, i.e., from a first lens to a sixth lens in order on an optical axis. The first lens is a positive lens having a first lens-surface and a second lens-surface. A reading lens system for a scanner is used at a reduced magnification so as to read an original image at a high speed, and comprises, successively in order from an object toward an image, a first lens unit to a fifth lens unit and an aperture disposed between the second lens unit and the third lens unit. The first lens unit comprises a positive lens serving as a first lens and a negative lens serving as a second lens and being cemented on an image side of the first lens. The second lens unit comprises a meniscus lens serving as a third lens, of which convex surface faces the object. The third lens unit comprises a meniscus lens serving as a fourth lens, of which convex surface faces an image. The fourth lens unit comprises a biconcave lens serving as a fifth lens and a biconvex lens serving as sixth lens and being cemented on the image side of the fifth lens. The fifth lens unit comprises a plane-parallel glass plate serving as a seventh lens. The lens system has the ratio f/f.sub.12 within the predetermined range where f is the focal length of the entire lens system, and f.sub.12 is the focal length of the first lens unit.

A zoom lens for a variable magnification copying machine has a first lens composed of a concave lens; a second lens composed of a convex lens; a third lens composed of a meniscus concave lens and having a concave face on an object side; a diaphragm; a fourth lens composed of the same lens as the third lens and having a concave face on an image face side; a fifth lens composed of the same convex lens as the second lens; a sixth lens composed of the same concave lens as the first lens; the first to sixth group lenses being sequentially arranged from an object face toward the image face; the first to sixth lenses being symmetrically arranged around the diaphragm when the object is formed as an image on the image face at equal magnification; and a device for symmetrically moving at least the first and sixth lenses among the first to sixth lenses and the diaphragm and moving the entire lens system in the direction of an optical axis when the object is formed by changing the magnification as an image on the image face so as to continuously change the magnification while a conjugate length from the object face to the image face is constantly held at the times of equal and variable magnifications.
