A printing machine includes two printing units, each comprising a web feed section, a web printing section connected to the web feed section and a web treating section connected to the web printing section, in which a single-side surface of a continuous web is printed at each of the web printing sections. The printing machine also includes a turn/transfer section at which two the printing units are operatively connected and the continuous web printed by one of the two web printing sections is transferred to the other one thereof through turning and transferring treatment of the continuous web. The printing machine is capable of carrying out double-side printing and single side printing and improving printing efficiency with a relatively small location space or site.

A paper web folding and cutting apparatus for a form printing machine includes a paper web traveling path which enables a continuous paper web to travel at a predetermined traveling speed. A cut portion forming device is disposed on the paper web traveling path and is adapted to form a cut portion formed in a line of a plurality of cuts. Each line of the cuts has at least one uncut portion, at every top and bottom directional dimension of the continuous paper web to be folded. Also, an oscillatory shooter assembly is disposed on the paper web traveling path on a downstream side of the cut forming means in a paper web traveling direction. The oscillatory shooter assembly is provided with a counter roller and a nozzle roller at a lower end portion thereof. The rollers are rotated at a peripheral speed which is faster than the paper web traveling speed, and the nozzle roller is movable into and out of contact with the counter roller. The oscillatory shooter assembly performs an oscillatory motion in a bilateral direction with the continuous paper web interposed between the nozzle roller and the counter roller so as to fold, in a zigzag fashion, the continuous paper web along the cut portions. According to this structure, the continuous paper web is cut along the cut portions by pressing the nozzle roller against the counter roller at a timing when the cut portion to be cut approaches an upstream side portion of both the nozzle roller and the counter roller.

Paper web folding and cutting apparatus

A delivery fan, comprising sets of blades at constant circumferential spacings, receives therebetween the sheets successively falling from an overhead infeed conveyor. The sheets fall off the delivery fan on hitting a set of abutment tines arranged interdigitatingly with the fan blades. A stack of sheets thus formed on a retractable platform is unloaded therefrom onto a delivery conveyor. A temporary sheet holder is provided which is angularly displaceable about the delivery fan axis between a working position, where it temporarily receive the sheets falling off the delivery fan pending unloading of the preformed stack of sheets, and a retracted position where the sheet holder allows the sheets to fall from the delivery fan onto the platform. The sheet holder is mounted to the shaft of the delivery fan via a pair of overrunning clutches and sprung from the retracted toward the working position. Consequently, when unlocked from its retracted position upon stacking of the sheets to a predetermined height on the platform, the sheet holder turns to the working position at the same angular velocity as the delivery fan.

Apparatus for delivery of printed sheets of paper or the like in successive stacks

A rotary printing press has a postprinting processing station where the printed web of paper, stretched out between two pairs of nip rollers, is slit longitudinally into a pair of web halves and where the web halves are subsequently superposed one upon the other. This station includes a tension roller for imparting tension to the web being slit, and a set of turnbars for causing a change in the traveling direction of one of the web halves before being placed in register with the other. The tension roller and one of the turnbars are both automatically driven to their working positions with the start of machine operation and retracted when the machine is set out of operation.
