A cutting jig includes a fixing member for inserting a distal end portion of an optical fiber, and an inclination cutting unit movable with respect to the fixing member for cutting the distal end portion. The distal end portion is defined into a proximal end portion and a free end portion. The inclination cutting unit includes a one end edge of a closing plate and a blade portion incapable of relative movement to each other. The inclination cutting unit can perform a first movement and a second movement that is a greater movement amount than the first movement. The one end edge is brought into contact with the free end portion based on the first movement, and the free end portion moves to be inclined with respect to an extension line EL. A blade edge is brought into contact with the free end portion based on the second movement.

An optical connector assembly having a connector housing with a first and second end. First end accepts a ferrule assembly, and second end accepts a retention assembly. There is a longitudinal bore from a distal to proximal end of connector. Bore accepts a POF optical fiber therein at distal end and fiber is inserted proximally until fiber bottoms-out at proximal end of ferrule. Retention body accepts one or more retention caps, or retention body contains at least one retention wing set to secure fiber to connector.

An optical waveguide includes a first core and a second core disposed adjacent to each other at spaced intervals and a dummy core positioned between the first core and the second core. The first core and the second core transmit light in a transmission direction perpendicular to an adjacent direction. The dummy core includes a facing surface facing the first core and an opposing surface positioned at the opposite side to the first core with respect to the facing surface, and the opposing surface has an inclined surface inclining so as to go away from the first core toward the downstream side in the transmission direction.

An opto-electric hybrid board is capable of being mounted on a connector having a bottom wall. The opto-electric hybrid board sequentially includes an optical waveguide and an electric circuit board toward one side in a thickness direction of these. The optical waveguide includes an under clad layer, a core layer disposed on a one-side surface of the tinder clad layer, and an over clad layer disposed on the one-side surface of the under clad layer so as to cover the core layer. The under clad layer is in contact with an other-side surface in the thickness direction of the electric circuit board. An optical waveguide member connector kit includes an optical waveguide member including an optical waveguide and a connector accommodating the optical waveguide member. An opto-electric hybrid board includes an optical waveguide and an electric circuit board. The opto-electric hybrid board has an electrode at one end portion in a first direction perpendicular to the thickness direction, and optically and electrically connects an optical element emitting light from a space between the one end portion and the other end portion. The electric circuit board includes a terminal portion electrically connected to the electrode and a support portion that supports the other end portion. The optical waveguide includes a light receiving portion for receiving light emitted from the optical element, which is positioned between the terminal portion and the support portion, when projected in the thickness direction, and a one-side surface in the thickness direction of the terminal portion is positioned at the other side in the thickness direction with respect to a one-side surface in the thickness direction of the support portion.

An optical waveguide member connector kit includes an optical waveguide member including an optical waveguide and a connector having an accommodation space that is capable of accommodating the optical waveguide member. When the optical waveguide member is accommodated in the accommodation space, the connector has an opening portion reaching the optical waveguide member from the outside of the connector and when the optical waveguide member is accommodated in the accommodation space, at least one of the optical waveguide member and the connector includes a groove communicating with the opening portion facing at least the other side of the optical waveguide member and the connector.

There is provided an opto-electric hybrid board with slight or no warpage. An opto-electric hybrid board according to the present disclosure includes an electric circuit board and an optical waveguide formed in a stacked manner on one surface of the electric circuit board. The optical waveguide includes an under cladding layer, cores for an optical path formed on a front surface of the under cladding layer, and over cladding layer formed on the front surface of the under cladding layer so as to cover the cores. A groove for prevention of warpage which has a bottom positioned below a top surface of the cores is formed at least in a front surface portion of the over cladding layer.

Opto-electric hybrid board

Opto-electric hybrid boards are disclosed including an electric circuit board; light-emitting and light-receiving elements which are mounted on a first surface of the electric circuit board; and an optical waveguide having a core for an optical path and formed in a stacked manner on a second surface of the electric circuit board. The core of the optical waveguide includes: end portions formed as light reflecting surfaces for reflecting light to allow the light to propagate between the core and the light-emitting and light-receiving elements; extensions extending from the end portion side of the core toward the light-emitting and light-receiving elements; and a main portion from which the extensions extend. The extensions of the core and the main portion of the core are different from each other in shape of cross-sections perpendicular to an axial direction thereof.

A connector member for an optical waveguide includes a housing provided with a space portion for holding an end portion of an optical waveguide. In the housing, protruding portions serving as a positioner are provided on left-hand and right-hand side wall portions defining the space portion. Notches in the optical waveguide are fitted on the protruding portions, whereby a front end surface of the end portion of the optical waveguide is positioned at a location a predetermined distance inward from a front end surface of the housing. This configuration achieves optical coupling without bringing the end surface of the optical waveguide into direct abutment with an end surface of a target optical connector.

An opto-electric hybrid board includes an electric circuit board in which electric wiring is formed on a front surface of an insulating layer, and an optical waveguide formed on the rear side of the electric circuit board. The optical waveguide and the electric circuit board are arranged so that left and right edges of the electric circuit board along a longitudinal direction of the optical waveguide overlap with left and right edges of the optical waveguide when viewed from above, or so that the left and right edges of the electric circuit board are on the inside of where the left and right edges of the optical waveguide are located. The opto-electric hybrid board is easy to handle owing to the reduced chance of the electric circuit board being damaged. The opto-electric hybrid board also does not cause misalignment of a core when used as a connector.
