A method of manufacturing a hub seal is provided. In the method, a lip reaction force F/hub diameter D and a lip surface roughness R are selected from within a designed region, which is a region of the lip reaction force F/hub diameter D and the lip surface roughness R, set in advance on the basis of a value (lip reaction force F/hub diameter D) given by dividing a reaction force F, which is a value of a reaction force of the side lip in an in-use state, by a hub diameter D, which is a value of a diameter of a hub, and the lip surface roughness R, which is a value of a surface roughness of a seal surface of the side lip. The hub seal is designed such that the lip reaction force F/hub diameter D and the lip surface roughness R become the selected lip reaction force F/hub diameter D and lip surface roughness R. The hub seal is manufactured based on the designed hub seal.

Method of manufacturing hub seal

A sealing device includes a first sealing member and a second sealing member. The first sealing member has a sleeve mounted on an inner member, and a flange. The second sealing member has a tubular portion mounted on the outer member, a disk portion that faces the flange, a radial lip in slidable contact with the sleeve, and a side lip extending from the disk portion and being in slidable contact with the flange. The first sealing member has an annular first protrusion protruding from the flange toward the disk portion. The first protrusion is disposed radially outside the side lip and overlaps the side lip in radial directions. The second sealing member has an annular second protrusion protruding from the disk portion toward the flange. The second protrusion is disposed radially outside the first protrusion and overlaps the first protrusion in radial directions.

Sealing device

A sealing device is disposed between an inner member and an outer member that rotate relative to each other to seal a gap between the inner member and the outer member of the sealing device, and includes a first sealing member including a cylindrical part to be mounted to the outer member, and an annular part that extends radially inward from the cylindrical part toward the inner member; and a second sealing member including a sleeve to be mounted to the inner member, and a flange that extends radially outward from the sleeve, the flange facing the annular part of the first sealing member. The first sealing member includes at least three axial lips made from an elastic material that extends from the annular part toward the flange of the second sealing member. An axial lip disposed radially outer side has an interference that is greater than that of an axial lip disposed radially inner side.

Sealing device and method for applying grease thereto

A sealing apparatus includes: an annular reinforcement ring around an axis; and an annular elastic body part around the axis, which is attached to the reinforcement ring and is formed of an elastic body. The elastic body part has: a side lip, an intermediate lip, and a grease lip. A grease as a lubricant is applied to respective inner peripheral side surfaces of the side lip, the intermediate lip, and the grease lip. A thickener of the grease includes no urea-based thickener. In a usage state of the sealing apparatus, a cross sectional area of an inter-lip space enclosed by the side lip, the intermediate lip, and a hub ring is equal to or greater than 3.5 mm.

Sealing apparatus and sealing structure

There are provided a sealing device and a hub bearing that can reduce torque. Pear-skin-like projections and depressions are provided on each of a sliding surface in a lip for foreign object (a side lipand a middle lip) and a sliding surface in a lip for grease. Roughness of the pear-skin-like projections and depressions provided on the sliding surface of the lip for greaseis larger than roughness of the pear-skin-like projections and depressions provided on the sliding surface of the lip for foreign object.

Sealing device and hub bearing

In a sealing structure, a sealing device seals a space between a rotational body and a shaft. The sealing device includes an inner side seal portion, an outer side seal portion, and a dust cover. An inner side seal lip of the inner side seal portion extends from an inner side attachment ring toward an outer side and slidably abuts a contacted portion. The outer side seal portion includes the outer side seal lip, and a side lip on an outer peripheral side of the outer side seal lip, and the outer side seal lip and the side lip extend from the outer side attachment ring toward the outer side and slidably abut the dust cover. The dust cover forms a gap between the dust cover and a flange portion of a bracket to which the inner side attachment ring is attached.

Sealing structure

A sealing device has a main lip sealing sealed fluid in a machine inside and a sub lip preventing intrusion of foreign materials in a machine outside, and structured such that both of the lips slidably come into contact with a peripheral surface of a shaft, wherein the sub lip is formed into a shape which is vertical to an axial direction or a shape which is directed to the main lip side, and a stepped shape is provided in the sub lip, the stepped shape unevenly distributing a generation position of a contact pressure peak in relation to the shaft in the sub lip. The sealing device can achieve both the shaft inserting property and the sealing performance in a sealing device having a main lip which seals sealed fluid in a machine inside, and a sub lip which seals foreign materials in a machine outside.
