Provided is a liquid discharging apparatus including a liquid discharging unit configured to discharge a liquid, and a dummy discharge receptacle including an absorbing member configured to absorb a liquid dummy-discharged by the liquid discharging unit, wherein the liquid discharging unit discharges a liquid having a resin content of 5% by mass or greater, and wherein the absorbing member of the dummy discharge receptacle is formed of melamine foam.

A head cleaning device includes a liquid discharge head, a wiping member, a rotatable pressing member, and a moving assembly. The liquid discharge head includes a nozzle, which discharges liquid, on a nozzle surface. The wiping member wipes the nozzle surface. The rotatable pressing member presses the wiping member against the nozzle surface. The moving assembly contacts the wiping member with the nozzle surface and relatively moves the liquid discharge head and the wiping member to perform a wiping operation. The pressing member includes a recess corresponding to a nozzle forming portion of the nozzle surface on a part of a surface of the pressing member.

Head cleaning device and liquid discharge apparatus

A head cleaner to clean a liquid discharge head including a nozzle face in which nozzles are formed includes a wiper to wipe the nozzle face by moving relative to the liquid discharge head in a wiping direction. The wiper includes a wiper sheet, a blade having a higher water repellency than the wiper sheet, and a controller that controls the wiper to perform a first wiping operation and a second wiping operation. The first wiping operation involves wiping the nozzle face with the wiper sheet without bringing the blade into contact with the nozzle face, and the second wiping operation involves wiping the nozzle face with the wiper sheet and the blade by bringing the wiper sheet and the blade into contact with the nozzle face. The controller controls the wiper to perform the second wiping operation after performing the first wiping operation at least once.
