A medical device for removing an object in a body cavity, includes a rotatable drive shaft, a cutter attached to a distal end of the drive shaft and by which the object is cut, a guide wire including one or more markers, a guide tube disposed at a distal portion of the drive shaft and including a lumen through which the guide wire can pass and a sensor configured to detect the one or more markers, and a controller configured to control an operation state of the cutter to be an operation disabled state in which the cutter cannot operate and an operation enabled state in which the cutter can operate, and to switch between the operation disabled state and the operation enabled state according to the one or more markers detected by the sensor.

The pusher causes the cutting member to move toward a first surface of the body lumen when contacting an opposite second surface of the body lumen.

A medical device for removing an object in a body cavity, includes a rotatable drive shaft having a lumen, a cutter disposed at a distal portion of the drive shaft and by which the object is cut, a drive shaft driving source configured to rotate the drive shaft, a fluid driving source configured to move a fluid from a distal side to a proximal side of the lumen, a switch, and a controller configured to, in response to the switch being turned on, control the fluid driving source to begin moving the fluid, and control the drive shaft driving source to begin rotating the drive shaft a first predetermined period after the switch is turned on.

A medical device that removes an object from a biological lumen, includes a rotatable drive shaft having a lumen through which the object passes, a cutting unit disposed at a distal end of the drive shaft and by which the object is cut, a proximal shaft to be rotated by a rotary force, a connection unit connecting the proximal shaft and the drive shaft and by which the rotary force is transmitted to the drive shaft, and a housing that houses the connection unit and includes a discharge port communicating with the lumen via the connection unit and through which the cut object is discharged.
