A method for producing MMA-dwhich includes a step of exchanging D in hydroxyl group of methanol-drepresented by the formula: CDOD with H to prepare the methanol-drepresented by the formula CDOH and simultaneously recovering a deuterium-containing compound, and a step of reacting methanol-dwith sulfuric acid salt of methacrylic acid amide represented by the formula CD=(CD)CO(NH.HSO) to prepare MMA-drepresented by the formula: CD=(CD)COOCD.

Method for producing deuterated methyl methacrylate

A process for preparing lactamide with a high conversion and a high selectivity without the deterioration of a catalytic activity in a short time, which comprises subjecting lactonitrile to a hydrating reaction in the presence of (A) a catalyst including an oxide of manganese as a main component, (B) an oxidizing agent and (C) hydrogen cyanide or hydrogen cyanide and a compound represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are each a hydrogen atom, a C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 alkyl group, a C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 hyroxyalkyl group, a C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 aminoalkyl group or a C.sub.1 to C.sub.8 halogenoalkyl group.

Process for preparing lactamide

A process for manufacturing methanol is herein disclosed which comprises the step of reacting hydrogen with carbon monoxide and/or carbon dioxide in the presence of a synthetic catalyst obtainable by mixing, in a slurry state, (a) a beforehand prepared precipitation slurry of copper and zinc, with (b) an alumina precursor separately prepared from a water-soluble aluminum salt and a basic precipitant, to obtain a composition containing copper, zinc and aluminum, and washing, drying and then calcining the composition. A process for manufacturing the above-mentioned catalyst is also disclosed. According to the present invention, methanol can extremely efficiently be manufactured, and the catalyst having a high activity and an excellent heat resistance can also be manufactured.
