A soft switching system DC-DC converter includes a switching element, a transformer or a reactor, and a controller configured to control a switching operation of the switching element; and carries out the switching operation of the switching element in a state that a voltage or a current to be applied to the switching element is zero. In a case where a required output value of the DC-DC converter is lower than the minimum output over which soft switching is established, the controller controls the operation of the switching element so that an operation period in which an output of the DC-DC converter becomes the minimum output or higher and a stop period in which the output becomes zero are alternately repeated.

DC-DC converter and control method thereof

A power supply device has a first power supply capable of storing and discharging electric power, a second power supply connected in series to the first power supply and capable of storing and discharging the electric power, an isolated DC-DC converter including a primary side terminal to which the first power supply is connected, and a secondary side terminal to which the second power supply is connected, and a power supply control unit that controls a voltage of the second power supply using the isolated DC-DC converter. A direct-current voltage outputted from the first power supply and the second power supply connected in series is inputted to a first inverter, converted into an alternating-current voltage by the first inverter, and then supplied to a vehicle drive motor.

Power supply device and method of controlling the same

A motor/generator is basically provided with a stator, a first rotor member and a magnetic resistance changing mechanism. The stator has a plurality of coils configured and arranged to be energized with a composite electrical current to form first and second magnetic fields. The first rotor member is configured and arranged to be rotated with respect to the stator using the first magnetic field. The magnetic resistance changing mechanism is configured and arranged to change a magnetic resistance between the stator and the first rotor member using the second magnetic field.

Axial-gap motor/generator

A motor/generator includes a rotor member, a shorting member and a stator. The rotor member has a plurality of permanent magnets. The shorting member is configured and arranged to selectively establish a short-circuit in magnetic flux of the permanent magnets to switch between a normal state in which the magnetic flux is not shorted and a shorted state in which the magnetic flux is shorted. The stator has a plurality of coils configured and arranged to be energized with a composite electrical current including first and second current components. The stator is further configured and arranged to form a first magnetic circuit between the coils and the permanent magnets with the first current component to drive the rotor member and to form a second magnetic circuit between the coils and the shorting member with the second current component to selectively switch between the normal state and the shorted state.

In a dynamo-electric machine having two rotors, at least one of the rotors is constructed to have a first magnetic path that extends in a circumferential direction of the rotor, at least one of the rotors is constructed to have a second magnetic path that extends in a radial direction of the rotor, and at least one of the rotors is of an interior permanent magnetic type (IPM) and includes an inside yoke that faces an axial end of the stator. A magnetic resistance of a part of the inside yoke by which the same poles of the permanent magnets of the corresponding rotor are magnetically connected is lower than that of another part of the inside yoke by which the different poles of the permanent magnets of the corresponding rotor are magnetically connected.

Dynamo-electric machine

The disclosure is directed to an electrical motor that includes a rotor and stator with improved cooling of the motor. The improved cooling is due to a convenient coil connecting structure of the stator. Outer and inner peripheral connectors connect the coil wound ends at the outer and inner peripheral sides of the stator, respectively. From this structure, heat sources, such as the connectors, are distributed to both the outer peripheral and inner peripheral sides of the stator core. In this manner, the motor may more effectively be cooled through the distributed heat sources.
