Disclosed is a method for the compaction of a soft magnetic powder capable of manufacturing a green compact which has attained high density and high strength, is excellent in mechanical properties and magnetic properties, and does not cause a reduction in electrical resistance. Soft magnetic powder particles individually surface-coated with an insulating vitreous layer containing P, Mg, B, and Fe as essential components are used, and a lubricant is applied to the inner wall surface of a compaction die. The soft magnetic powder is subjected to compaction at from not less than room temperature to less than 50&deg; C. without mixing the lubricant with the soft magnetic powder, followed by annealing at from 50 to 300&deg; C.

Method for the compaction of soft magnetic powder

The present invention provides an Al&mdash;Mg&mdash;Si based alloy sheet whose press-formability (particularly, deep-drawing formability, stretch-formability and bendability) is made higher than conventional Al&mdash;Mg&mdash;Si based alloy sheets of JIS 6000 series. For texture of the Al&mdash;Mg&mdash;Si based alloy sheet, orientation density of at least Cube orientation is controlled in accordance with a sort of press forming, so that press-formability improved to match with the press forming is provided. For example, to improve deep-drawing formability of an Al&mdash;Mg&mdash;Si based alloy sheet, the ratio of orientation density of Goss orientation to the orientation density of the Cube orientation (Goss/Cube) is set to 0.3 or less, and a grain size is set to 80 &mgr;m or less.

There is provided an Al base alloy containing boron which is superior in mechanical properties such as strength, ductility or workability and the like and has a neutron absorbing capacity and an ability to recycle. This is an Al base alloy containing boron with Mg: 2 to 8% (massed %, similarly applied hereinafter) and B: 0.5 to 1.5% and satisfying a relation of .sup.10 B/(.sup.10 B+.sup.11 B).gtoreq.95%, and a rate of AlB.sub.2 in all boron compounds is 80% or more by a volumetric rate.
