A control device defines, for three-dimensional blood vessel data of a blood vessel corresponding to a branched center line, a cylindrical coordinate system, thereby converting this into blood vessel data in an orthogonal coordinate system. The control device uses a coordinate value of the coordinate axis in a radial direction at a first coordinate value of the coordinate axis in a center line direction and a coordinate value of the coordinate axis in the radial direction at a second coordinate value of the coordinate axis in the center line direction, thereby interpolating a coordinate value of the coordinate axis in the radial direction between the first coordinate value and the second coordinate value. The control device converts, after interpolation, the blood vessel data into blood vessel data in the cylindrical coordinate system.

A stent () comprising a hoselike body obtained by braiding a multiplicity of thin wires () of superelastic metal into plaited form. In the longitudinal intermediate portion of the hoselike body, mutually neighboring individual thins wires () of superelastic metal are in contact with each other or close to each other with a minute interspace and are formed into a thin wire densely braided hose portion () with a length needed to block any opening of blood vessel dilation. At both side portions thereof, mutually neighboring individual thin wires () of superelastic metal are formed into a thin wire coarsely braided hose portion () provided with an interstice allowing passage of blood flow. The hoselike body when pulled in the longitudinal direction causes the individual thin wires () of superelastic metal to stretch into fine gathering, and when released from pulling can make resilient restoration to the original hoselike body.

Bioabsorbable polymeric implants and a method of using the same to create occlusions

As a high frequency for actuating a transducer, a continuous sinusoidal wave, a burst wave, or a pulse wave shall be used so that no standing wave may be produced inside the cranium.

Ultrasonic cerebral infarction therapeutic apparatus

An intralumenal implant material, which comprises, a polymer having a sol-gel transition temperature in an aqueous solution thereof, shows a substantial water-insolubility at a temperature higher than the sol-gel transition temperature, and shows a thermo-reversible water-solubility at a temperature lower than the sol-gel transition temperature. Such an intralumenal implant is capable to be endovascularly or percutaneuosly delivered into a vascular lumen in a liquid state at the temperature lower than the sol-gel transition temperature, is capable to be instantly converted into a gel state in the vascular lumen at the blood temperature higher than the sol-gel transition temperature and is capable of occluding aneurysms, vascular tumors or vascular malformation. Such intralumenal implant material shows excellent biocompatibility and mechanical matching for the vascular tissue and the surrounding tissue because it is a highly water-containing hydrogel. In addition, biologically active substances for promoting a prompt neo-endothelium formation and/or endothelialization can be easily incorporated into such an intralumenal implant material.

A new embolic agent, bioabsorbable polymeric material (BPM) is incorporated to a Guglielmi detachable coil (GDC) to improve long-term anatomic results in the endovascular treatment of intracranial aneurysms. The biocompatible and bioabsorbable polymer is in the illustrated embodiment at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of polyglycolic acid, poly&#x2dc;glycolic acid/poly-L-lactic acid copolymers, polycaprolactive, polyhydroxybutyrate/hydroxyvalerate copolymers, poly-L-lactide. Polydioxanone, polycarbonates, and polyanhydrides.

Alternatively, the coil is composed of a radio-opaque material, and the biocompatible and absorbable polymer or protein is disposed thereon. This apparatus may be positioned within intracranial aneurysms or any aneurysm in the body as well as within other body cavities.

Biodegradable polymer coils for intraluminal implants

Ion-implanted protein-coated occlusion coils are described which have essentially the same dimensions as untreated coils and exhibit altered surface properties, e.g., thrombogenicity, endothelial cellular migration and adhesion, relative to untreated coils thus making them particularly useful in treating wide-necked brain aneurysms.
