An ultraviolet ray emitter includes an inner tube, an outer tube arranged around the inner tube, the outer tube defining between the outer tube and the inner tube, a discharge space where discharge gas is sealed, a pair of electrodes that causes discharge in the discharge space, and an auxiliary light source that assists excitation of discharge gas by emitting light to discharge gas from the outside of the outer tube. The outer tube is less likely to allow passage therethrough of ultraviolet light generated by excitation of discharge gas than the inner tube but allows passage therethrough of light having a wavelength emitted from the auxiliary light source.

Inspection apparatus

A conductivity meter includes a measurement unit including an electrode arranged as being in contact with sample water and a substrate on which a circuit that processes information outputted from the measurement unit is mounted. The measurement unit and the substrate are connected to each other, with a wall portion being interposed, the wall portion partitioning a space in a housing into a water section and an electric section. The measurement unit is arranged on a first surface of the wall portion on a side of the water section such that the electrode is located in an opening provided in the wall portion. The substrate is arranged on a second surface of the wall portion on a side of the electric section such that an electrode contact that electrically connects a power supply and a circuit to each other is located in the opening.

Inspection apparatus and conductivity meter

A water quality measurement deviceincludes a twin tube excimer lamp. The inflow pipeis connected to one end of the inner tubeof the excimer lamp, and the outflow pipeis connected to the other end of the inner tubeof the excimer lamp. The detectorthat measures the conductivity of sample water is interposed in the outflow pipe. In the water quality measurement device, sample water sequentially flows through the inflow pipe, the inner tubeof the excimer lamp, and the outflow pipe. Hence, the channel in the water quality measurement devicecan be simplified. Additionally, the sample water is oxidized by being irradiated with UV light in the inner tubeof the excimer lamp. Hence, it is possible to irradiate the sample water with UV light from the excimer lampefficiently.

Water quality measurement device and water quality measurement method

Provided is a therapeutic method exclusively targeting an amyloid &#x3b2; protein (A&#x3b2;) having a specific turn structure of A&#x3b2;. Specifically provided is an antibody which specifically recognizes an amyloid &#x3b2; having a turn structure at amino acids positions 22 and 23. Also provided are a medicinal composition comprising, as the active ingredient, an antibody specifically recognizing a toxic conformer of amyloid &#x3b2;, an assay kit for a toxic conformer of amyloid &#x3b2;, a diagnostic for Alzheimer's disease, etc.
