A Raman probe for measuring Raman spectrum includes an exciting-end light guiding path for guiding excitation light from a light source to a sample; a receiving light-guide path for guiding a light signal from said sample to a detector; a band-pass filter for passing said excitation light and blocking Raman-scattered light produced from said exciting-end light guiding path; a pipe for securing said band-pass filter inside said pipe, said pipe being mounted on a light-outgoing end of said exciting-end light guiding path; and an edge filter mounted on a light-incident end of said receiving light-guide path, said edge filter passing Raman-scattered light from said sample while blocking the excitation light. The edge filter is a short-wavelength transmitting filter that permits passage of wavelengths shorter than the excitation wavelength.

Raman probe and Raman spectrum measuring apparatus utilizing the same

An analysis system comprises an endoscope 10 insertable into the vessel and a Raman analysis apparatus 40. An insert cable 54 of the Raman analysis apparatus 40 is inserted into a channel 10of the endoscope 10. An excitation optical fiber 60 and a bundle 70A of a plural number of light receivingoptical fibers 70 are received in the insert cable 54. A transparent small piece 63 having a film-like excitation optical filter 64 is abutted against the distal end of the fiber 60. A transparent plate 71 having a film-like light reciving optical filter 72 is abutted against the distal end of fibers bundle 70A. The plate 71 has a center hole 71and the piece 63 is fitted into the hole 71.

A hollow optical fiber has an intermed ate dielectric layer interposed between an inner periphery side dielectric layer facing a hollow core portion and a metal layer The inner periphery side dielectric layer is formed of calcium fluoride. The intermediate dielectric layer is formed of yttrium fluoride. Metal of the metal layer can be prevented from dispersing into the dielectric layers by the intermediate dielectric layer formed of yttrium fluoride. The hollow optical fiber is manufactured by vapor depositing calcium fluoride on an outer peripheral surface of an acid-soluble glass tube (base material), then vapor depositing yttrium fluoride on its outer peripheral surface, then vapor depositing a metal layer formed of silver, gold or the like on its outer peripheral surface, and thereafter, dissolving the glass tube with acid.

Hollow optical fiber and method for manufacturing the same

An endoscope apparatus has a side view endoscope for side viewing an object in a radial direction of a distal end constitutional portion and a balloon catheter . With an insert portion of a side view endoscope inserted in an insert tube of the balloon catheter , the balloon catheter is inserted into a blood vessel B. The insert tube is provided at its distal end with a transparent balloon . This balloon encloses the distal end constitutional portion . By feeding air (fluid) to this balloon , the balloon is expanded so as to be urged against an inside wall of the blood vessel B. This causes the blood to be discharged between the inside wall of the blood vessel B and the balloon , thus enabling to observe the inside wall of the blood vessel B through the side view endoscope

Endoscope apparatus for inside wall of blood vessel

A bendable tube used for an endoscope or the like, includes a plurality of joint pieces arranged in a row. Each of the joint pieces is provided at one end portion thereof with a pair of first connecting portions and at the other end portion with a pair of second connecting portions . The first connecting portions are projected in a center axis direction of the joint piece and arranged 180 degrees away from each other in a peripheral direction, and the second connecting portions are projected in the opposite direction to the first connecting portions and arranged 180 degrees away from each other in the peripheral direction. The first connecting portion is formed with a through-hole (retaining portion) and the second connecting portion is formed with a protrusion . The first and second connecting portions of the adjacent joint pieces are connected together only by fitting engagement between the protrusion and the through-hole . A rivet is not used for this connection. The first and second connecting portions are able to rotate relative to each other due to rubbing relation between an annular inner periphery of the through-hole and an outer periphery of the protrusion

Bendable tube and method for manufacturing the same

A liquid crystal display unit includes a first and a second substrate. A plurality of tiny projections are formed on the first substrate in a scattered arrangement. The tiny projections each have a generally semi-spherical configuration. Top portions of the projections each having a convexly curved surface are contacted with the second substrate, thereby a gap for filling a liquid crystal being formed between the first substrate and the second substrate. The tiny projections are formed by projecting a laser beam to the first substrate.

Liquid crystal display unit and method for manufacturing the same

Converged laser beam are irradiated, at right angles, to the surface of a workpiece which is made of glass and supported in a horizontal posture, so that the surface of the workpiece is locally heated and melted. The surface of the workpiece is formed into a convexly curved surface under the effect of surface tension occurrable to the glass material at the time the surface of the workpiece is melted. By hardening the workpiece, a micro lens having the convexly curved surface is formed.

Process for producing micro lenses using a laser beam

A laser beam generator has a pair of opposing mirrors. A reflecting surface of at least one of the opposing mirrors is constituted by a conical surface having a vertex angle of 90 degrees in order to tangentially polarize a laser beam. This conical surface is diverged toward the other opposing mirror at an angle of 45 degrees with respect to an optical axis from its vertex held alignment with the optical axis.

Laser beam generator

In the production of a waveguide, a pipe of a glass which is soluble in an acid or an alkali is used in order to obtain a smooth inner peripheral surface of a reflecting layer of the waveguide. After the reflecting layer is formed on the outer periphery of the pipe, the glass pipe is dipped in an etchant to be dissolved and removed. A reinforcement layer can be applied to the waveguide, and the reinforcement layer is made of a resin in order to keep the flexibility of the waveguide. In this case, the reinforcement layer of a resin is formed on the outer periphery of the reflecting layer on the pipe, and thereafter the pipe is dipped in the etchant and is removed. The waveguide of a circular cross-section can be flatted. In this case, the reinforcement layer made of a thermoplastic resin is heated to be softened, and then a compressive force is applied to the waveguide radially thereof to flatten the waveguide.
