A vehicle seat air-conditioning system is used with a main air-conditioning unit which operates in one of a plurality of air blow modes. The main air-conditioning unit has an air-conditioned air outlet-port for supplying air-conditioned air irrespective of the air mode. The vehicle seat air-conditioning system includes an air-conditioned air duct connected to the air-conditioned air outlet-port, a seat-air duct connected to the air-conditioned air duct to supply the air-conditioned air to the inside of a seat and an air blower unit for blowing the air-conditioned air.

A vehicle air conditioning system includes a space air conditioning unit for blowing conditioned air into a passenger compartment, a seat air conditioning unit for blowing air into a vehicle seat, and a control unit for controlling the space air conditioning unit and the seat air conditioning unit. The control unit includes space controlling means for controlling the space air conditioning unit in accordance with a space control value calculated based on a space target air temperature, and seat controlling means for controlling the seat air conditioning unit in accordance with a seat control value calculated based on the space target air temperature. Accordingly, even if the change operation of the set temperature is not performed, when the region is stored once for the air conditioning control, the region is used as a learned region. Further, when the change operation of the set temperature is performed in an another region, a correction of the set temperature of the learned region is restricted. Thus, it can restrict the set temperature of a region, which is satisfied by the passenger from being changed.

A vehicle air conditioner has a standby RAM having a map memorizing many regions of, for example, preset temperature, each of which is determined by environmental conditions such as the inside/outside air temperatures and the sunlight amount. The air conditioner automatically controls the air conditioning of the passenger compartment of the vehicle based on the information stored in the region of the map determined by the environmental conditions that is regarded as a control preset temperature used for calculating a target blowing temperature in a control flow repeating cyclically. When the preset temperatures read at the previous cycle and the current cycle are different from each other, the control preset temperature is regarded as the preset temperature which changes gradually from the previous one to the current one, whereby the temperature of air blown into the passenger compartment gradually changes.

The air conditioner includes a surface temperature sensor for detecting a surface temperature of a clothes portion of a passenger. In the air conditioner, a thermal-feeling estimation value for the passenger is calculated based on the surface temperature of the clothes portion of the passenger, and air-conditioning operation of a passenger compartment is controlled based on the thermal-feeling estimation value. Accordingly, in the air conditioner, the thermal feeling can be always accurately estimated, and comfortable air-conditioning control can be performed using the thermal-feeling estimation value.

In a vehicle air conditioner, when a passenger manually reduces an air blowing amount in a large blowing amount area of automatic control, a correction of the blower voltage control characteristic is changed in accordance with a condition capable of determining a passenger's request. For example, as the condition, at least one of a target blowing temperature of air blown into a passenger compartment and a passed time after start of the automatic control can be used. Therefore, the corrected blower voltage control characteristic after the manual operation can be made suitable for the passenger's preference.

Thus, since an outlet close to the occupant's sitting position is selected, it becomes easier for air to reach the vehicle occupant to sufficiently cool or warm the occupant with a small amount of blown out air.

In a control system of a vehicle air conditioner, when a temperature difference between a previous target air temperature at the previous manual operation and a present target air temperature at the present manual operation is smaller than a predetermined value, that is, when it is estimated that a passenger's desired air amount is not set by the previous manual operation, a blower voltage control characteristic for controlling an air amount of a blower is corrected so that a set value at the previous manual operation is not affected to the present learning. Accordingly, it can prevent air-conditioning feeling from being deteriorated due to mis-learning.

A seat air duct includes a floor duct fixed to the floor surface of vehicle cabin and flexible ducts. The upper wall of the floor duct is partially formed by flexible slide walls. The flexible slide walls are formed in an accordion and stretch and contract to follow a front-back stroke of a front seat. The flexible ducts stretch and contract to follow a vertical stroke of the front seat. In this way, since the flexible slide walls and the flexible ducts are independently provided, the seat air-conditioning unit effectively follows the front-back and vertical strokes of the passenger seat, thereby improving a seat air-conditioning performance.

A vehicle air conditioner has a non-contact temperature sensor for detecting a surface temperature of a detection range of a passenger compartment. The detection range includes a first detection portion in which a surface temperature is changed to approximately correspond to an inside air temperature, a second detection portion in which a surface temperature is changed in accordance with an outside air temperature, and a third detection portion in which a surface temperature is changed in accordance with a sunlight amount entering the passenger compartment. In the vehicle air conditioner, a target temperature of air blown into the passenger compartment is calculated based on a set temperature and a surface temperature from the non-contact temperature sensor, while air-conditioning performance is improved.

Temperatures in a Dr side air-conditioning zone and a Pa side air-conditioning zone are controlled highly independently of each other without temperature interference between each zone. A room internal air temperature sensor and a room external air temperature sensor are provided. Dr side and Pa side temperature setters separately set room setpoint temperatures (Tset(Dr), Tset(Pa)) in each zone. First and second target blow-out temperature calculating portions, which include neural network, input the room setpoint temperatures and the temperature data. Then it calculates Dr side and Pa side target blow-out temperatures (TAO(Dr), TAO(Pa)) relative to each air-conditioning zones by using a neural network. Air-mixing doors separately adjusts the temperatures of conditioned air blown out from Dr side air passage and Pa side air passage to be the first and second target blow-out temperatures. Here, the neural network has the learning function, which adjusts its output to be desired data (teacher signal). Therefore, the output at a specific input condition can be adjusted without temperature interference between each zone.

A vehicle air conditioner includes an air conditioning unit where temperature adjustments of both right and left-seat side air-conditioning zones are independently performed. In the vehicle air conditioner, a swing range of right-seat side center louvers provided in a right center face air outlet is restricted from a front right-seat direction to a rear left-seat direction, and a swing range of left-seat side center louvers provided in a left center face air outlet is restricted from a front left-seat direction to a rear right-seat direction. Thus, right-left independent temperature control can be accurately performed in the vehicle air conditioner.
