To allow an image display device which includes a plurality of distance holding members (spacers) which are arranged in the inside of a display region to acquire a prolonged lifetime, high brightness and high reliability while preventing charging of the spacers, a conductive film is arranged on a bottom surface of the spacer and the conductive film is covered with an adhesive material.

Image display device and manufacturing method of the same

An image display device includes a front substrate having anodes and phosphors, a rear substrate having plural video signal wirings or lines and plural electron sources each formed on a corresponding one of the video signal wirings or lines, and disposed to face the front substrate with a predetermined spacing between the front and rear substrates and a support member which is sandwiched between the front and rear substrates, surrounds a display area formed therebetween and maintains the predetermined spacing. The support member is includes long-side portions of a uniform width disposed on long sides of the front substrate and short-side portions of a uniform width disposed on short sides of the front substrate. At least the long-side portions are curved convexly toward an outside of the display area.

To realize a high-quality flat-face type of color cathode ray tube by combining a tint panel with a pressed mask, the outer surface of the panel of the color cathode ray tube is made nearly flat and the inner surface of the panel is curved in a concave shape, and the long-length direction pitch of slots formed in an aperture region of a pressed mask to be disposed close to the inner surface and the connection-direction width of each of bridges which connect the slots are made different between a central portion (A) and a peripheral portion (B) in the apertured region of the pressed mask , whereby the ratio of bridges per unit area is made larger in the central portion (A) than in the peripheral portion (B) or the opening rate of slots per unit area is made larger in the peripheral portion (B) than in the central portion (A). According to this construction, the mechanical strength of the central portion (A) of the pressed mask becomes large, whereby it is possible to restrain the occurrence of undesired deformation of the pressed mask due to the increase of the radius of curvature of the central portion (A) and it is possible to uniformize brightness over the entire screen.

Color cathode ray tube

A Braun tube for use in a TV receiver or the like, in which its screen does not need high resolution, but the brightness of the screen is important. The Braun tube has a panel with a flat outer surface, an electron gun arranged in an in-line manner and a phosphor screen whose phosphors are arranged in a delta pattern, and the horizontal pitch of a shadow mask can be varied in the direction of the Y-axis. The mechanical strength of the shadow mask is improved by making the curvature of the shadow mask larger than the curvature of the inner surface of the panel in the direction of the vertical axis of the screen.

A color picture tube has a panel which is substantially flat on its outer surface, while an inner surface of the panel is curved, and a shadow mask having a curved plane with a curvature that is greater than that of the curved plane on the inner panel surface. The panel is made of glass, such as a tint material, a ring-like magnet assembly (PCM) for convergence adjustment is provided outside of the neck, a first electromagnetic quadrupole coil is further attached to a portion outside of the neck for causing an electron beam spacing to change or vary in accordance with the deflection angle, and a second electromagnetic quadrupole coil is attached to a deflection yoke. The distance between adjacent ones of three cathodes of an electron gun is determined to be greater than or equal to 6.0 millimeters (mm).

A cathode-ray tube that has an electron gun including a final-stage main lens made up of a last accelerating electrode and a focusing electrode and having a focus action stronger in horizontal direction than in vertical direction, an electron lens of a first kind formed between the divided focus electrodes and having a focus action stronger in the vertical direction than the horizontal direction to vary the cross sectional shape of an electron beam with an increase of the deflection amount, an electron lens of a second kind formed between the divided focus electrodes for weakening the lens strength with an increase of the deflection amount of an electron beam, and an electron lens of a third kind made up of at least one electrode constituting a three electrode section and having a focus action stronger in the horizontal direction than in the vertical direction. The dynamic focus voltage which decreases with an increasing deflection amount is reduced. The horizontal diameter of an electron beam spot is reduced on the central area of the screen.
