A vertical heat exchanger is described, which allows efficient elimination of the gas generated therein and efficient removal of the sludge accumulated therein. The vertical heat exchanger has at least part of one end of a vent pipe formed of an upper tube sheet part (an upper cover part in the case of a spiral heat exchanger) and the other end thereof connected outside the heat exchanger to an immediately adjacent fluid passing port passing the same fluid as the vent and/or at least part of one end of a drain pipe formed of a lower tube sheet part (a lower cover part in the case of a spiral heat exchanger) and the other end thereof connected outside the heat exchanger to an immediately adjacent fluid passing port passing the same fluid as the drain.

Vertical heat exchanger

A method is provided for preventing an easily polymerizable substance from being polymerized in a thin-film type evaporating device by supplying a solution of the substance to the evaporating heating surface of the device by the centrifugal force of a stirring rotary shaft, characterized by mixing a distilled vapor of the substance with a molecular oxygen-containing gas and supplying the extracted liquid or a solution having lower viscosity than the extracted liquid to a feed raw material inlet thereby adjusting the quantity of a wetting liquid per unit length of the surface in the range of 0.02-2 m /mHr. In the evaporation of the substance by the use of the device, a method for preventing the substance from polymerization is provided.

Method for preventing polymerization in thin-film type evaporating device

This invention relates to a storage tank for a viscous oil containing easily polymerizable compounds. The storage tank of the present invention for storing viscous oil containing easily polymerizable compounds comprises a bottom plate, a side wall, a draw-off pipe and an inlet pipe. The bottom plate slopes downwardly toward the draw-off pipe, and an angle of downward inclination of the bottom plate is a gradient of at least 1/200. It becomes possible because of the storage tank to effectively prevent polymerization of easily polymerizable compounds contained in waste oil within the storage tank, and clogging of a pipe is suppressed considerably.

Storage tank for viscous oil containing easily polymerizable compounds

A method for transferring an easily-polymerizable substance by using a vertically-arranged circulation type canned motor pump or a gas seal type motor pump. Transferring the easily-polymerizable substance such as (meth)acrylic acid with use of the motor pump having the vertically-arranged main shaft enables effective prevention of polymerized matter in the pump. The method assures stable transfer of easily-polymerizable matter for a prolonged time.
