Systems, apparatuses, and methods include predicting a sulfur exposure of one or more copper-zeolite catalysts deployed in an exhaust aftertreatment system; comparing the predicted sulfur exposure to a predefined sulfur exposure threshold; and responsive to the determination, heating the exhaust aftertreatment catalyst to a predefined heat treatment temperature for a predefined time period to desulfate the one or more copper-zeolite catalysts.

Systems and methods for selective catalytic reduction and/or ammonia slip catalyst sulfur protection

An exhaust aftertreatment system includes a diesel oxidation catalyst in exhaust gas receiving communication with an engine. A selective catalytic reduction catalyst on filter (SCR on filter) is positioned downstream of the diesel oxidation catalyst. A hydrocarbon doser is configured to inject hydrocarbons into a flow of the exhaust gas upstream of the diesel oxidation catalyst. A reductant doser is configured to inject reductant into the flow of the exhaust gas upstream of the SCR on filter and downstream of the diesel oxidation catalyst. An aftertreatment controller is operatively coupled to the hydrocarbon doser. The aftertreatment controller is configured to control a dosing rate at which the hydrocarbon doser injects hydrocarbons into the flow of the exhaust gas so as to cause regeneration of the SCR on filter.

An aftertreatment system includes a first oxidation catalyst, a second oxidation catalyst, and a turbocharger. The first oxidation catalyst is upstream of the turbocharger and includes a first oxidation catalyst formulation. The second oxidation catalyst is downstream of the turbocharger and includes a second oxidation catalyst formulation different than the first oxidation catalyst formulation. The second oxidation catalyst formulation is configured to promote conversion of nitric oxide (NO) to nitrogen dioxide (NO).
