Systems and methods of authenticating and/or communicating key and/or data between communication parties using quantum channels are provided. In some embodiments, authentication may be provided during transmission (including at various stages), without transmission, before transmission, and/or without keys. Such systems and methods allow authentication to be performed on a bit-by-bit basis using the same quantum communication channel. Further, these systems and methods prevent an eavesdropper from gaining useful information, and/or allow man-in-the-middle attacks to be detected.

Methods and apparatuses for authentication in quantum key distribution and/or quantum data communication

An approach is provided for creating a mobile virtual network. A virtual network is created to include a plurality of mobile virtual routers. A determination is made whether the virtual network has sufficient resources to satisfy a dynamic virtual network requirement. The size of the virtual network is adjusted based on the determination.

Method and system of forming a mobile virtual network

A Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) multi-mode switching system and method and method provides concurrent switching in various switching modes including, but not limited to, an electronic packet switching (EPS) mode, optical circuit switching (OCS) mode, and optical burst switching (OBS) mode. Methods and apparatuses for DWDM multi-mode switching router and dynamic multi-mode configuration and reconfiguration

An approach is provided for creating a single mobile virtual router (MVR) to share pooled resources. A mobile virtual router is formed to utilize resources of multiple routers of a network, wherein the routers include one or more physical routers, one or more virtual routers, one or more other mobile virtual routers, or a combination thereof. The resources of the single mobile virtual router are dynamically partitioned in response to an operational criterion of the network.

Method and system for sharing router resources via a mobile virtual router

An approach is provided for dynamic congestion control among mobile virtual routers. A determination is made whether a congested segment of a network of a plurality of physical routers. A temporary congestion point is created at a mobile virtual router to divert traffic away from the congested segment using logical tunnels over non-congested physical links, wherein the mobile virtual router is configured to utilize resources of at least two of the physical routers.

Dense wavelength division multiplexing multi-mode switching systems and methods for concurrent and dynamic reconfiguration with different switching modes

A method for providing multi-wavelength switching. The method comprising receiving a plurality of signals through at least one input port, and separating the plurality of said signals into at least one wavelength signal set based on wavelengths, wherein a first wavelength signal set of said at least one wavelength signal sets corresponds to a first wavelength. The method further comprises providing a plurality of output lanes to at least one output port, and determining if two signals from said first wavelength signal set traveling on said first wavelength are scheduled output from an output port during an overlapping time period through said plurality of output lanes. The method further comprises determining if one of said plurality of output lanes is available during said overlapping time period when said two signals are schedule for said output port during the overlapping time period, wherein a first signal of said two signals is routed for output on an available lane if one of said plurality of output lanes of said output port is available.
