A manufacturing machine is capable of subtractive manufacturing and additive manufacturing for a workpiece. The manufacturing machine includes: a first headstock and a second headstock disposed in a machining area and configured to hold a workpiece; a tool spindle and a lower tool rest disposed in the machining area and configured to hold a tool to be used for subtractive manufacturing for the workpiece; an additive manufacturing head configured to discharge a material during additive manufacturing for the workpiece; a workpiece gripper configured to grip the workpiece during transportation of the workpiece into and out of the machining area; and a robot arm on which the additive manufacturing head and the workpiece gripper are mountable. Accordingly, the manufacturing machine improving the productivity in the simple and easy manner is provided.

Manufacturing machine

A workpiece processing method is a method for successively processing a plurality of workpieces including a first workpiece and a second workpiece in a single machining area. The workpiece processing method includes: performing additive manufacturing on the second workpiece in the machining area; and performing subtractive manufacturing on the first workpiece in the machining area while keeping on standby the second workpiece on which additive manufacturing is performed. In this way, the workpiece processing method with improved productivity is provided.

Workpiece processing method

An additive-manufacturing head includes: a ring-shape laser beam forming unit having axicon lenses facing each other and a convex lens between the axicon lenses to form a laser beam entering through the axicon lens into a ring-shape laser beam and emit the ring-shape laser beam from the other axicon lens; a lens moving mechanism to move the convex lens in the optical axis direction of the laser beam; a laser beam emitting unit to emit the ring-shape laser beam toward a workpiece; and a material powder feeding tube having an outlet which is disposed inside the ring-shape laser beam emitted from the laser beam emitting unit and from which material powder is released, to feed the material powder from the outlet toward the workpiece. Accordingly, the additive-manufacturing head capable of freely controlling the size of the laser-beam-irradiated region and the laser beam intensity distribution on the workpiece is provided.

Additive-manufacturing head and manufacturing machine

A manufacturing machine is capable of additive manufacturing. The manufacturing machine includes: a connecting part configured to be connectable to a machine tool capable of subtractive manufacturing; and an additive manufacturing head configured to be positioned in a machining area of the machine tool and discharge a material, when the connecting part is connected to the machine tool. The manufacturing machine for additive manufacturing that can be installed at a low cost is thus provided.

A manufacturing machine includes: a tool spindle configured to hold a tool for subtractive manufacturing for a workpiece; an additive manufacturing head detachably mounted on the tool spindle to discharge material powder and emit a laser beam during additive manufacturing; and a head stocker storing the additive manufacturing head in an outside-of-machining-area. The additive manufacturing head includes: a head body into which a laser beam is introduced; and a laser tool detachably mounted on the head body to emit the laser beam and define a laser-beam-irradiated region on the workpiece. The manufacturing machine further includes: a laser tool stocker storing a plurality of laser tools; and a laser tool exchanger for exchanging laser tools between the head body and the laser tool stocker. A high productivity of additive manufacturing is achieved by using the above features configured in this way.

An additive manufacturing head includes: a nozzle configured to discharge material powder; a rotary member connected with the nozzle, including a first material powder passage formed in the rotary member to direct the material powder to the nozzle, and configured to rotate to cause the nozzle to move in the circumferential direction about a laser beam emitted toward the workpiece; and a stationary member including a second material powder passage which is formed in the stationary member and into which the material powder is introduced, the stationary member being disposed directly beside the rotary member in the direction of the rotational axis of the rotary member. A third material powder passage communicating with the first material powder passage and the second material powder passage and extending annularly about the rotational axis of the rotary member is formed between the stationary member and the rotary member.

Additive manufacturing head and manufacturing machine

A manufacturing machine is a manufacturing machine capable of additive manufacturing. The manufacturing machine includes: an additive-manufacturing head configured to be movable in a machining area and to discharge material powder toward a workpiece and irradiate the workpiece with an energy beam; and a powder chute configured to be movable in the machining area and to receive material powder discharged from the additive-manufacturing head toward the workpiece and failing to attach to the workpiece. There is provided the manufacturing machine configured in the above-described manner to be capable of efficiently collecting material powder having failed to attach to the workpiece during additive manufacturing.

A manufacturing machine is capable of subtractive manufacturing and additive manufacturing for a workpiece. The manufacturing machine includes: a first headstock and a second headstock disposed in a first processing area and configured to hold a workpiece; a lower tool rest and a tool spindle disposed in the first processing area and configured to hold a tool to be used for subtractive manufacturing for the workpiece; an additive manufacturing head disposed in a second processing area; and a robot arm configured to hold a workpiece and transport the workpiece between the first processing area and the second processing area. The additive manufacturing head is configured to discharge a material toward the workpiece held by the robot arm during additive manufacturing for the workpiece. Accordingly, the manufacturing machine configured simply to be capable of subtractive manufacturing and additive manufacturing is provided.
