A system for measurement of light scattering from a test article includes a light emitting device, configured to emit a light beam onto the test article along light axis, a collection assembly configured to collect scattered light from the test article along a measurement axis that is oriented at a non-zero angle from the light axis, wherein the collection assembly includes a first angular spectral filter, and a second angular spectral filter spaced from the first angular spectral filter along the measurement axis, wherein a position or orientation of at least one of the first angular spectral filter and the second angular spectral is adjustable relative to the measurement axis.

Systems and methods for measuring light beam scattering

A method of measuring a temperature of a thermally-insulated, high temperature system. The method includes directing a first electromagnetic energy into the high temperature system so that the first electromagnetic energy may cause multi-photon ionization of a molecular or atomic species within the high temperature system. A second electromagnetic energy resulting from the multi-photon ionization is detected through a thermally-insulating wall of the high temperature system. The detected second electromagnetic energy is related to a temperature within the high temperature system.

Method for spatially-localized gas-phase temperature measurements through ceramic materials

Hydraulic fracturing of a geological formation is performed by injection of a proppant mixture into the geological formation to form fractures in the geological formation. The proppant mixture includes at least a liquid, proppant, and proppant additive particles. The hydraulic fracturing results in a presence of the proppant additive particles within the formed fractures, wherein the proppant additive particles are configured with a first complex conductivity that is measurably different than a second complex conductivity exhibited by materials comprising the geological formation. The formed fractures can then be imaged and mapped in the geological formation with electromagnetic energy at one or more frequencies in a manner so that the proppant additive particles function as a contrast agent due to the first complex conductivity of the proppant additive particles being measurably different from the second complex conductivity. The complex conductivity includes a real conductivity and an imaginary conductivity.
