A method includes, in response to receiving an incoming service request and establishing a call chain of pods of a service mesh network, setting a retry locker parameter to a locked state for each pod in the call chain. A locked retry locker parameter prevents the pod from initiating retries of a service request. The method includes, in response to determining that a pod in the call chain is unavailable, setting the retry locker parameter to an unlocked state for a previous pod just prior to the pod that is unavailable. The unlocked state allows a retry to the pod that is unavailable. In response to the previous pod reaching a retry limit, the method includes setting the retry locker parameter to unlocked for each pod in the call chain and sending a service termination message to a service requester.

Approach to gracefully resolve retry storms

A method of processing video data is described. The method includes performing a conversion between a current video block of a video and a bitstream of the video. A geometric partitioning mode index for the current video block is coded in the bitstream and a binarization of the geometric partitioning mode index is performed according to a rule. The geometric partitioning mode index specifies a geometric splitting shape of a geometric partitioning mode applied to the current video block. The rule specifies that the geometric partitioning mode index is coded with a fixed-length binarization.

High level syntax for inter prediction with geometric partitioning

Techniques for implementing video processing techniques are described. In one example implementation, a method of video processing includes determining, for a conversion between a current block of a video and a bitstream representation of the video, whether a combined inter and intra prediction (CIIP) coding technique is to be applied to the current block based on a characteristic of the current block. In general, methods for integrating IBC with existing motion compensation algorithms for video encoding and decoding are described. In a representative aspect, a method for video encoding using IBC includes determining whether a current block of the current picture is to be encoded using a motion compensation algorithm, and encoding, based on the determining, the current block by selectively applying an intra-block copy to the current block. In a representative aspect, another method for video encoding using IBC includes determining whether a current block of the current picture is to be encoded using an intra-block copy, and encoding, based on the determining, the current block by selectively applying a motion compensation algorithm to the current block.

Methods, systems and devices for video coding using sample string vectors are described. An example method of video processing includes determining, for a conversion between a video including a current block and a bitstream of the video, an availability of a block vector of one or more non-adjacent neighboring blocks of the current block for a prediction of a block vector of the current block according to a rule, and performing, based on the determining, the conversion, wherein the rule specifies a pre-defined order for checking the one or more non-adjacent neighboring blocks.
