A power generator includes a chemical hydride multilayer fuel cell stack. A flow path extends through the fuel cell stack to provide oxygen containing air to the fuel cell stack and to cool the fuel cell stack. A hydrogen generator is coupled to the flow path to receive water vapor from ambient air introduced into the flow path and water vapor generated by the fuel cell stack and to provide hydrogen to the fuel cell stack. A controller separately controls airflow past the fuel cell stack and water vapor provided to the hydrogen generator.

Hybrid fuel cell

Devices, methods, and systems relating to infrared imager devices, methods for providing infrared imagers, methods of operating infrared imagers, and infrared imager systems are disclosed. An infrared imager system includes a number of lenses, a beam splitter, an imager array, and a thermo-optical array, wherein the beam splitter directs light to the imaging array and to the thermo-optical array.

A device for detecting gas concentrations includes a movable coded filter. An optical element is positioned to receive gas filtered light and spectrally separate the gas filtered light. A photo detector is positioned to receive the spectrally separated light through slits in the moveable coded filter to provide an AC signal representative of a selected gas.

Dynamic coded filter gas detection

An apparatus for detecting gas concentrations includes a coded filter to oscillate proximate a resonant frequency. A photo detector is positioned below the coded filter such that the coded filter selectively blocks light that is directed at the photo detector. Optics are positioned to project spectral information on to the coded filter. A processor analyzes a signal received from the photo detector. The processor is adapted to weight a harmonic attic signal.

Tuned dynamic eigen spectroscopy systems

A low profile solar collector having a number of light collecting lenses that fit closely together as an array on a flexible sheet. The lenses may focus light onto optical conveyance mechanisms which convey light from the lenses to a light-to-electrical converter or converters at an edge of the sheet. The lenses may alternatively focus light onto a light-to-electrical converter or converters. Conductors may convey electricity from the light-to-electrical converters to an electrical connection block at an edge of the sheet. The flexible sheet may be rolled, folded, or form fitted onto a non-planar surface. Two or more low profile solar collectors having a number of collecting lenses may be combined to form a larger sheet for solar collection. The electrical outputs of the collectors may be connected to provide one or more outputs as desired.

A solar cell including a quantum dot, an electron conductor, and a rigid bridge molecule disposed between the quantum dot and the electron conductor. The rigid bridge molecule may include a first anchor group that bonds to the quantum dot and a second anchor group that bonds to the electron conductor. The solar cell may include a hole conductor that is configured to reduce the quantum dot once the quantum dot absorbs a photon and ejects an electron through the rigid bridge molecule and into the electron conductor.

A solar cell may including a quantum dot, an electron conductor and a bridge molecule disposed between the quantum dot and the electron conductor. The bridge molecule may include a quantum dot anchor that bonds to the quantum dot and an electron conductor anchor that bonds to the electron conductor. The quantum dot anchor may be an electron-rich anchor group that includes a Group 5A element. The solar cell may also include a hole conductor that is configured to reduce the quantum dot once the quantum dot absorbs a photon and ejects an electron through the bridge molecule and into the electron conductor.

A solar cell including a quantum dot, an electron conductor, and a conjugated bridge molecule disposed between the quantum dot and the electron conductor. The conjugated bridge molecule may include a quantum dot anchor that bonds to the quantum dot and an electron conductor anchor that bonds to the electron conductor. In some instances, the quantum dot anchor and/or the electron conductor anchor may independently include two anchoring moieties that can form ring structures with the quantum dot and/or the electron conductor. The solar cell may further include a hole conductor that is configured to reduce the quantum dot once the quantum dot absorbs a photon and ejects an electron through the conjugated bridge molecule and into the electron conductor.

An assembly for coupling an electrical device with a rigid structure using a flex circuit is provided. The assembly includes a staple having posts which extend into the rigid structure and secure the staple to the rigid structure. The flex circuit couples with both the rigid structure and the electrical device. The flex circuit extends between the staple and the rigid structure such that the flex circuit couples with the rigid structure thereby providing an interconnection between the electrical device and the rigid structure.

This disclosure concerns methods for fabrication of integrated high speed optoelectronic devices. In one example of such a method, a device region that includes a top surface and a bottom surface is formed on a top surface of a substrate. The device region may take the form of an optical emitter, such as a VCSEL, or a detector, such as a photodiode. Next, an isolation region is formed that is configured such that the device region is surrounded by the isolation region. A superstrate is then disposed on the top surface of the device region. Finally, a micro-optical device, such as a lens, is placed on a top surface of the superstrate.

Methods of fabricating integrated optoelectronic devices

The invention includes both devices and methods of production. A device in accordance with the invention includes a top surface and a bottom surface, a through wafer via extending from the top surface to the bottom surface, an optoelectronic structure and an ion implanted isolation moat, wherein the optoelectronic structure and the through wafer via are enclosed within the isolation moat. A method in accordance with the invention is a method of producing a device that includes the steps of forming an optoelectronic structure, forming a through wafer via, extending from a top surface to a bottom surface of the device and forming an ion implanted isolation moat, wherein the through wafer via and the optoelectronic structure are enclosed by the isolation moat.

Optoelectronic devices and methods of production

A sensor system for detecting the presence of at least one specific component in a fluid medium such as an exhaust gas. A sensor is mounted in a sensor body for detecting the presence of at least one specific component and providing a representative signal that is transmitted to a remote receiver for processing. A power source such as a thermopile provides power for the sensor and the transmitter. Preferred are sensors that detect a plurality of different components in the gas and provide a distinct signal for each component. A preferred transmitter is designed to transmit at a low duty cycle so as to conserve power. A preferred sensor is electronic, has the capability for self-diagnostics and self-calibration, and causes a change in current when exposed to the component, such as a functionalized field effect transistor.

Wireless gas composition sensor system

A VCSEL structure having thermal management. The structure may be designed for conveyance of heat from the active layer primarily through one of the mirrors to a material that removes heat externally away from the structure. Thermal management may involve various configurations of heat removal for various VCSEL structures. The structures may be designed to effect such respective configurations for heat removal.

An opto-electronic integrated circuit device includes top emitter/detector devices on a substrate. The top emitter/detector devices have top and bottom sides. The top emitter/detector devices are capable of emitting and detecting light beam from the top side, and have top contact pads on the top side. An optically transparent superstrate is attached to the top side. Micro-optic devices such as lenses can be attached to the superstrate. Top contact pads are connected to bottom contact pads. The bottom contact pads are attached to matching pads of an integrated circuit chip to produce an opto-electronic integrated circuit.
