A head unit includes: a head having a nozzle surface spreading in a first direction and a second direction crossing the first direction, the nozzle surface having a nozzle row along the first direction; a tank fluidly connected to the head; a substrate electrically connected to the head; a casing containing the head, the tank and the substrate; and an edge member defining an opening through which a tube fluidly connectable to the tank and a wiring electrically connectable to the substrate pass, the edge member being detachably attachable with respect to the casing, wherein the edge member is attachable with respect to the casing selectively in a first state in which the opening faces in a third direction crossing the first direction and the second direction and a second state in which the opening faces in the first direction.

Head unit, printing system and printing method

There is provided a printing apparatus including: a thermal head including heating elements arranged in a first direction; a shaft extending in a second direction; a first engaging part; a head holder; an insertion part; a shaft holder holding the shaft; a second engaging part engageable with the first engaging part so that the shaft does not come off from the shaft holder; a guide configured to guide the shaft holder movably between engaging and non-engaging positions; a fixing member; and a fixing member-holder. The fixing member fixes the shaft holder to the head holder in a case that the shaft holder is located at the engaging position. The fixing member-holder holds the fixing member so that the fixing member does not come off from the shaft holder in a case that the shaft holder is located at the non-engaging position.

Printing apparatus

There is provided a printing apparatus, including: a base plate having a first surface and a second surface; an installation part provided in the first surface and configured so that a ribbon roll is attached thereto; a thermal head provided in the first surface and configured to heat the ink ribbon; a partition wall partitioning the first surface into a first area including the installation part and a second area including the thermal head; a drive mechanism provided in a third area of the second surface and including a motor and a controller; and a fan provided in the base plate and configured to move air from the second area to the first area via the third area.
