Polarized nuclear imaging and spectroscopy systems and methods are disclosed. In some embodiments, nuclei of a radioactive substance are polarized such that the spins of the nuclei are oriented in a specific direction, to generate a polarized radioactive tracer with anisotropic gamma ray emission. The radioactive substance is selected such that the degree of anisotropy is enhanced. A tracer is introduced into a living subject for delivery to a target area of interest in the subject. The tracer is delivered such that nuclear spin relaxation of the tracer is inhibited during transport of the tracer to the target area of interest. Gamma rays from the gamma ray emission are detected, and based on the detected gamma rays and properties associated with the anisotropic gamma ray emission, imaging data and/or spectroscopic data are obtained that are associated with the tracer in the subject. In some embodiments, a radioactive substance is delivered to a target area of interest in the subject and the nuclei of the radioactive substance are polarized following delivery of the radioactive substance to the target area of interest, such that the spins of the nuclei are oriented in a specific direction, to generate a polarized radioactive tracer with anisotropic gamma ray emission. Gamma rays are detected from the gamma ray emission, and based on the detected gamma rays and properties associated with the anisotropic gamma ray emission, imaging data and/or spectroscopic data are obtained that are associated with the tracer in the subject.

Systems and methods for polarized nuclear imaging and spectroscopy

Some aspects of the present disclosure relate to systems and methods for magnetic resonance thermometry. In one embodiment, a preliminary balanced steady state free precession (bSSFP) magnetic resonance imaging pulse sequence is applied to an area of interest of a subject. Based on bSSFP image phases, a relationship between frequency and image phase associated with the area of interest can be determined and a bSSFP magnetic resonance imaging pulse sequence applied for temperature change measurement during and/or after focused energy is applied to the subject. Based on image phase change associated with temperature change and using the determined relationship between frequency and image phase, a change in the resonance frequency associated with the target area due to the application of the focused energy can be determined, and the temperature change can be determined based on the determined change in the resonance frequency.

Systems and methods for magnetic resonance thermometry using balanced steady state free precession

An inertial measurement system is disclosed. The inertial measurement system has an accelerometer processing unit that generates a calibrated accelerometer data. The inertial measurement system further includes a magnetometer processing unit generates a calibrated magnetometer data, and a gyroscope processing unit generates a calibrated gyroscope data. Using the calibrated accelerometer data, the calibrated magnetometer data, and the calibrated gyroscope data, the inertial measurement system generates a heading angle error indicative of the accuracy of the heading angle error.

Heading confidence interval estimation

Systems and devices are disclosed for calibration of gyroscope sensitivity. By comparing a reference orientation determined without gyroscope data to estimated orientations determined with gyroscope data, a calibrated sensitivity value may be derived using a known relationship between a reference orientation and estimated orientations difference and gyroscope sensitivity.

Systems and methods for gyroscope calibration

Some aspects of the present disclosure relate to systems and methods for examining a subject. In one embodiment, a method includes polarizing nuclei of a radioactive substance such that the spins of the nuclei are oriented in a specific direction, to generate a polarized radioactive tracer with anisotropic gamma ray emission probability. The method also includes introducing the tracer into a subject. The method further includes applying radio frequency oscillating (RF) magnetic fields and/or spatially varying magnetic fields to the tracer that are configured to manipulate the orientation of the spins such as to manipulate the directional dependence of gamma ray emission from the tracer. The method further includes detecting gamma rays from the gamma ray emission, and obtaining, based on the detected gamma rays and properties associated with the anisotropic gamma ray emission, imaging data and/or spectroscopic data associated with the tracer in the subject.

Systems and methods are disclosed for detecting when a magnetic anomaly may impact the quality of data being output by a magnetometer. A plurality of detection algorithms may be performed in parallel on the sensor data. Further, indication of a anomaly from one or a combination of the detection algorithms may cause the magnetometer data to have a reduced contribution in any sensor fusion operation or may be omitted from a sensor fusion operation as desired.

Described herein is an intelligent remote controlling device (e.g. a mobile phone). The device can include a six-axis motion sensor to accurately track three dimensional hand motions. For example, the sensors can include a three-axis accelerometer and a three-axis gyroscope. The remote control device can also include a processing unit integrated with the motion sensors in a single module. The processing unit can convert data regarding the hand motion to data regarding a cursor motion for a cursor that will be displayed on a screen of an electronic device. A method, system and computer readable medium for calibrating an accelerometer in a portable device is disclosed. The method, system and computer readable medium comprises receiving data from the accelerometer, and providing accelerometer samples from the data based upon one or more selection rules that adaptively selects data that satisfy certain criteria. The method system and computer readable medium also includes fitting the accelerometer samples to a mathematical mode. The method system and computer readable medium further includes providing a bias of the accelerometer based upon a center of the mathematical model.

In-use automatic calibration methodology for sensors in mobile devices

Aspects of the disclosure provide a method for calibrating gains of an optical storage servo system having a plant. The method includes translating a first signal of the plant from a time domain effort signal into a frequency domain effort signal, translating a second signal of the plant from a time domain error signal into a frequency domain error signal, determining a first gain of the optical storage servo system based on the first signal and the second signal, comparing a third signal from an optical disk of the optical storage servo system with a predetermined threshold, and asserting a defect flag when the third signal drops below the predetermined threshold to avoid calibrating the first gain based on the first signal and the second signal.

Plant gain calibration for an optical storage servo system

A storage system includes a first buffer configured to store a first repeatable runout profile (RRP) for a sector of a rotating storage medium. A second buffer is configured to store a second RRP for the sector. A controller: controls a servo of the rotating storage medium based on the first RRP during a first revolution of the rotating storage medium; and learns the second RRP (i) while operating in a track-following mode, and (ii) during the first revolution. The controller ceases learning of the second RRP when one of (i) the controller is operating in a seek mode and (ii) the rotating storage medium is in an off-track state. Subsequent to the first revolution of the rotating storage medium and based on whether the learning of the second RRP was stopped during the first revolution, the controller replaces the first RRP with the second RRP in the first buffer.

Method and apparatus for reducing repeatable runout in storage systems

A gain calibration method for optical storage servo systems in which, plant gain calibration is used by injecting a reference sine wave r into an optical storage servo system, obtaining an effort signal m at the input of the servo plant and an error signal y at the output of the servo plant, using a DFT (Discrete Fourier Transformation) to translate the time domain signals m and y into frequency responses M and Y, calculating a Y-to-M ratio, and using the magnitude of the Y-to-M ratio as the plant gain K of the servo system.
