A method for manufacturing a carbon nanotube includes following steps. A carbon nanotube structure comprising of a plurality of carbon nanotubes is provided. Metal is applied to outer surfaces of the carbon nanotubes. The carbon nanotube structure is heated in vacuum to a first temperature and a second temperature greater than the first temperature. At the first temperature, there is a reaction between the carbon nanotubes and the metal layer to form metal carbide particles. At the second temperature, the carbon nanotube structure breaks having at least one tip portion.

Carbon nanotube composite material and method for making the same

The present invention relates to a conductive tape. The conductive tape includes a adhesive layer and a plurality of carbon nanotubes. The adhesive layer has a first surface and an opposite second surface. The carbon nanotubes are substantially embedded in parallel in the adhesive layer and perpendicular to the first surface and the second surface. Each of the carbon nanotubes has two opposite ends extending out of the two opposite surfaces of the adhesive layer respectively. Further, a method for making the above-described conductive tape is also included.

Conductive tape and method for making the same

An acoustic system includes a sound-electro converting device, a electro-wave converting device, and a sound wave generator. The electro-wave converting device is connected to the sound-electro converting device. The sound wave generator is spaced from the electro-wave converting device and includes a carbon nanotube structure. The sound-electro converting device converts a sound pressure to an electrical signal and transmits the electrical signal to the electro-wave converting device. The electro-wave converting device emits an electromagnetic signal corresponding to the electrical signal and transmits the electromagnetic signal to the carbon nanotube structure. The carbon nanotube structure converts the electromagnetic signal into heat, and the heat transfers to a medium causing a thermoacoustic effect.

Acoustic system

An apparatus includes an electromagnetic signal device, a medium, and a sound wave generator. The sound wave generator includes a carbon nanotube structure. The electromagnetic signal device transmits an electromagnetic signal to the carbon nanotube structure. The carbon nanotube structure converts the electromagnetic signal into heat. The heat transfers to the medium and causes a thermoacoustic effect.

Thermoacoustic device

An ionization vacuum gauge includes a cathode electrode, a gate electrode, and an ion collector. The cathode electrode includes a base and a field emission film disposed thereon. The gate electrode is disposed adjacent to the cathode electrode with a distance therebetween. The ion collector is disposed adjacent to the gate electrode with a distance therebetween. The field emission film of the cathode electrode includes carbon nanotubes, a low-melting-point glass, and conductive particles.

A triode field emission device () includes a sealed container () having a light permeable portion (), a phosphor layer () formed on the light permeable portion in the sealed container, an anode () formed on the phosphor layer, a cathode () arranged in the sealed container and facing the light permeable portion, and a grid () arranged in the sealed container and between the cathode and the anode. The cathode has a carbon nanotube yarn () facing toward the light permeable portion configured for serving as an emission source for electrons.

A method for manufacturing a field emitter, includes the steps of: providing a CNT yarn segment; attaching the CNT yarn segment to a heat conductor; and burning the CNT yarn segment thereby yielding a remaining portion of the CNT yarn segment for use as a field emitter. It is proper to manufacture a plurality of field emitters with essentially even field emission properties using the present method.
