Certain aspects relate to techniques for estimating and compensating for antenna array rotation of a wireless node. For example, the antenna array of the wireless node may rotate about one or more of an x-axis, a y-axis, and a z-axis, which may misalign the antenna array relative to another antenna array of another wireless node, causing degradation of communications between the two nodes. In some examples, the wireless node may obtain, from a first antenna array of the other wireless node via a second antenna array of the first wireless node, a first pilot signal and a second pilot signal via a first beam. In some examples, the first wireless node may perform a first alignment compensation based on a phase difference between the first pilot signal and the second pilot signal.

Estimating and compensating antenna array misalignment

In some systems, a device may select antenna elements from a planar array to transmit or receive an orbital angular momentum (OAM) beam. The device may determine a first area (e.g., a first ring area) based on an angular direction over which the device can communicate an OAM beam with a second device and may determine a second area (e.g., a second ring area) on the planar array based on projecting the first area on the planar array. The device may select a set of antenna elements from the planar array that are located within the second area. The device may determine a complex-valued weight for each antenna element of the selected set of antenna elements and may transmit or receive an OAM beam to or from the second device via the set of antenna elements according to the angular direction.

In some wireless communications systems, a user equipment (UE) may be configured to transmit data to a network device using an unencoded signal that includes parameters for updating a local data model. The UE may receive a radio network temporary identifier (RNTI) to decode a resource allocation message that schedules uplink resources for the transmission of the parameters, where the RNTI may be a dedicated RNTI that is different from other RNTIs received by the UE. The UE may identify allocated resources as scheduled by the resource allocation message, and may apply analog modulation and pre-equalization parameters to a data block to form an unencoded uplink transmission that includes the model parameters. The UE may transmit the unencoded uplink message in accordance with an over-the-air computation procedure.

A base station may determine to bar at least one UE from communicating with one or more RISs of a plurality of RISs. The barring indication may identify the one or more RISs with which the at least one UE is barred from communicating. The UE may determine to refrain from communicating with the one or more RISs based on the barring indication. The UE may communicate with the base station based on the determination to refrain from communicating with the one or more RISs.

Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which user equipment (UE) may provide a capability indication to one or multiple transmission reception points (TRPs) that indicates whether the UE is capable of performing Doppler pre-compensation. The UE may indicate that multiple Doppler shifts for a single communication with multiple TRPs is supported, or that a single Doppler shift or no Doppler shift is supported. A transmitted may use a closed loop precoder for line-of-sight (LOS) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communications that uses information such as distance feedback or LOS MIMO channel state feedback. A closed loop precoder may be associated with less overhead than a precoder based on full channel knowledge, such as an SVD precoder. A receiver may estimate a channel based on channel state information reference signals transmitted by the transmitter and calculate a spectral efficiency for one or more precoders of a set of precoders associated with the channel for a LOS MIMO mode. The receiver may send feedback to the transmitter that indicates a selected precoder of the set of LOS MIMO precoders based on the calculated spectral efficiencies. The transmitter may precode messages using the reported closed loop precoder.

In an aspect, a method for reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted sensing performed by a base station (BS) includes configuring one or more reciprocal RIS beam pairs for sensing, wherein each of the one or more reciprocal RIS beam pairs comprises a downlink (DL) beam having a DL angle of departure (DL AoD) from a RIS controlled by a first set of control voltages and an uplink (UL) beam having an UL AoD from the RIS controlled by a second set of control voltages. The BS may send, to the RIS, information identifying the one or more reciprocal RIS beam pairs. The BS may perform monostatic sensing using at least one of the one or more reciprocal RIS beam pairs.

Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-assisted sensing

Aspects of the disclosure relate to user equipment (UE)-assisted beam broadening in a wireless communication system configured to employ beamforming. A UE may determine downlink channel characteristics by monitoring for, receiving, and measuring a suitable downlink reference signal. An example method of wireless communication by a UE includes receiving, from a base station, a report configuration message triggering a channel state feedback procedure, the UE and the base station operating in a multiple transmission and reception point (multiple-TRP) communication mode, the report configuration message requesting a multiple-TRP transmission value including at least one of a quantity of layer indicator (LI) values and a strongest TRP indicator (STI) value. The example method also includes generating channel state information (CSI) information based on the receiving of the report configuration message, the CSI information including the multiple-TRP transmission value. The example method also includes transmitting, to the base station, a report including the generated CSI information.
