A method of configuration in a communications network includes: obtaining operational data relating to operation of at least one network node, the operational data including, for each of a plurality of time periods, data relating to at least one configuration parameter of the network node and data relating to at least one performance indicator of the network node; defining a plurality of actions, wherein each action corresponds to a specific set of values of the at least one configuration parameter in two successive time periods; and defining a plurality of states, wherein each state corresponds to one specific set of values of the operational data. A probabilistic graph is constructed from the operational data, the probabilistic graph indicating, for a plurality of the defined states, a probability that an action will lead to a transition to a respective other state.

Configuration of a communications network

A computing device for supporting an Augmented-Reality (AR) software application is provided. The computing device is operative to select a physical location for placing a current virtual object, where the current virtual object appears to be placed when overlaid onto a video sequence capturing a physical scene in the surroundings of a user, based on an expected physical location which the user assumes in response to displaying the physical scene and the overlaid current virtual object to the user, and an attribute which is spatially dependent and which has an impact on a user experience of the AR software application. Taking the spatially-dependent attribute at the expected physical location of the user into consideration in selecting physical locations for placing virtual objects is advantageous in that virtual objects may be deployed at physical locations so as to provide an improved, or at least satisfactory, user experience to the users.

Supporting an augmented-reality software application

A method performed in an entity for transmitting in a communications system. The method comprises assessing a channel to be available for transmission by establishing an on-going transmission to have a received signal strength such as to allow simultaneous transmission in view of a first clear channel assessment threshold; establishing type of transmission of the on-going transmission; and determining, based on the established type of transmission, whether to transmit or to defer transmitting. Method and entity for transmitting in a communications system

The properties of a plurality of operational units are estimated by generating a central system state graph model representing the properties of the plurality of operational units as probabilities of transitions between states for the plurality of operational units, where the states represent operational data. Then a respective updated system state graph model is generated for each of the plurality of operational units, based on the central system state graph model and based on new operational data for the respective operational unit. A distance measure is determined between the respective updated system state graph models. If the distance measure fulfils a divergence criterion, a plurality of new central system state graph models are generated, each representing the properties of a respective subset of the plurality of operational units as the probabilities of transitions between states for the respective subset of the plurality of operational units.

Estimating properties of units using system state graph models

A technique for generating synthetic data as input for a machine learning process that recommends radio access network, RAN, configurations is presented. An apparatus implementation is configured to generate synthetic data from a noise input, using a trained generative machine learning model, wherein the generative machine learning model has been trained together with a discriminative machine learning model as adversaries based on non-synthetic data. The non-synthetic data comprises non-synthetic configuration management, CM, parameter values, non-synthetic RAN characteristic parameter values and non-synthetic performance indicator values. The synthetic data is in the same form as the non-synthetic data and comprises synthetic configuration management, CM, parameter values, synthetic RAN characteristic parameter values and synthetic performance indicator values. The apparatus is also configured to output the synthetic data for the machine learning process.

Embodiments of the disclosure provide methods, apparatus and computer programs for generating a radio coverage map. A method comprises: obtaining image data of a geographical area, the image data comprising: a representation of the environment in the geographical area; and an indication of one or more transmission point locations corresponding to the locations of one or more transmission points in a wireless communications network; and applying a generative model to the image data, to generate a radio coverage map of the geographical area.

A method for operating an access point providing access to a wireless network for a plurality of wireless devices, wherein the wireless network includes at least one transmission channel with a sequence of transmission slots. The method includes assigning a first transmission slot to a first wireless device for a scheduled transmission with a priority access to the first transmission slot for the first wireless device, detecting during the first transmission slot that the first wireless device is currently not transmitting data in the assigned first transmission slot, and transmitting an indication to at least a subset of the plurality of wireless devices indicating that at least a time range in the first transmission slot until an end of the first transmission slot is available to the plurality of wireless devices for a data transmission using a random access procedure.

Scheduled transmission

During transmission of data by radio transmissions from a first radio device to a second radio device, a third radio device is controlled to transmit an interference signal on radio resources used by the radio transmissions from the first radio device to the second radio device. The transmission of the data is coordinated with transmission of the interference signal, and an effect of the interference signal on the radio transmissions is monitored.

A method in a first base station in a communications network for performing channel estimation of a first wireless channel between a first wireless device and the first base station. A signal comprising a first component is received over the first wireless channel, the first component corresponding to a first reference signal transmitted by the first wireless device to the first base station, and a second component, wherein at least part of the second component corresponds to a second reference signal transmitted by a second wireless device to a second base station. Channel estimation

A method for enabling forecasting of key performance indicators, KPIs, in a communication network is presented. The method is performed by a network node and comprises collecting (S) time series data of KPIs in the communication network, extracting (S) k-principal components of the collected time series data, determining (S) a principal component score, PCS, from the collected time series data and the extracted k-principal components, and building (S) a PCS forecast model from the determined PCS and period of time-attributes. Network nodes and computer program products thereof are also presented.

According to an aspect of the proposed technology, there is provided a method performed by a network device for enabling relayed communication in at least one direction between a first communication unit and a second communication unit in a wireless communication system. The method comprises the steps of the network device specifying a relay unit for the relayed communication, and the network device determining information for scheduling and/or configuring a first transmission of a data frame from the second communication unit to the specified relay unit and a second transmission of the data frame from the specified relay unit to the first communication unit, and the network device generating a trigger frame including the information for scheduling and/or configuring the first transmission and the second transmission.

Enabling relayed communication in a wireless communication system

A method and an access node of a wireless network, for controlling uplink transmissions from wireless devices. It is detected that both a Narrow Band wireless device capable of receiving signals on a first narrow bandwidth channel and one or more legacy wireless devices capable of receiving signals on a second broad bandwidth channel are present. The second broad channel covers the first narrow channel. When receiving an uplink transmission from the Narrow Band device that indicates pending uplink data, the access node performs a downlink transmission that both Narrow Band wireless devices and legacy wireless devices can receive and decode. The downlink transmission indicates that the Narrow Band wireless device is allowed to transmit its pending uplink data on allocated resources within the first bandwidth channel, and that the second bandwidth channel is occupied.

Method and access node for controlling uplink transmissions in a wireless network

A method and an access node for communicating in a wireless communication network, the method comprising at an access node obtaining a timing indicator; transmitting to at least one communication device a first frame sequence. The first frame sequence comprises a first portion comprising a first preamble associated with a first communication protocol, a second portion comprising a first polling frame associated with the first communication protocol, and a third portion comprising a second preamble followed by a second polling frame, the second preamble and second polling frame are associated with a second communication protocol. The third portion is multiplexed in the frequency domain with the second portion.
