Aspects of the present disclosure involve a system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing a program and method for providing a content-based incentive program. The program and method provide for receiving, from a device, a request for submitting a media content item to a content feed associated with an incentive program providing for user payout based on meeting content criteria; determining that the media content item meets the content criteria; adding the media content item to a set of media content items which meet the content criteria and which are available via the content feed; providing access to the media content item in association with the content feed; selecting, based on the providing and at least in part on viewer engagement, the media content item from among the set of media content items for the user payout; and providing, based on the selecting, the user payout to the user.

Content-based incentive program within messaging system

Aspects of the present disclosure involve providing a platform user notification to users in a chat session. A user device receives from a server chat status message data for a chat session. The user device detects a specified platform being used by a user in the chat session based on the chat status message data. The user device provides a chat session user interface a platform presence icon associated with the user indicating that the user is using the specified platform.

System for new platform awareness

Aspects of the present disclosure involve a system for filtering conversations. The system generates for display, by a messaging application, a plurality of shortcut options, each of the plurality of shortcut options comprising a respective filtering criterion. In response to receiving input that selects a given shortcut option of the plurality of shortcut options, the system retrieves the filtering criterion associated with the given shortcut option. The system searches a plurality of conversations to identify a subset of conversations that match the filtering criterion. The system generates for display together with the plurality of shortcut options, a plurality of representations of the identified subset of conversations in which one or more messages have been exchanged between a user and one or more friends of the user.

Messaging application with conversation filtering

An interaction system that provides users in mutual affinity relationships to send messages. Interaction applications of two or more users receives notifications of a mutual affinity relationship between the first user and the second user. The interaction applications configure respective mutual affinity widgets by associating the mutual affinity widget with the respective other user. Icons of the mutual affinity widgets are provided on respective home screens of the users. Upon detecting a selection of the mutual affinity widget by a first user, a message creation interface is provided to the first user and a message is generated based on an image captured by the first user using the message creation user interface. The message is then sent to a second user. The second user uses their own mutual affinity widget to access the message.

Mutual affinity widget

A messaging system for exchanging data over a network, configuring an intermediate connection tier system that provides a multi-tier connections messaging framework. The intermediate connection tier system generates, based on the contact data of a user, an intermediate tier of connected user accounts. Each account in the intermediate tier of connected user accounts is provided with messaging privileges with respect to the account of the user, without being associated with expanded access connection tier links, sometimes referred to as friendship links, between their respective accounts with respect to the account of the user.
