An electrical receptacle connector includes a terminal module assembly and a grounding collar thereon. The terminal module assembly includes the front mating tongue, the rear body, and the step structure therebetween, and the corresponding contacts. The contacts are secured to the body with contacting sections exposed upon the mating tongue. The grounding collar includes the grounding regions located on two opposite upper and lower surfaces of the step structure. The front edge area of the grounding region adjacent to the front edge area, forms a notch so as to leave a space to allow the spring finger of the corresponding interior grounding plate of the plug connector to first slide upon the step structure and successively contact the grounding region of the grounding collar of the receptacle connector.

Electrical connector having improved grounding member

An electrical connector includes a contact module comprising two rows of contacts retained therein and a shielding plate, the contacts module defining a main base, a middle step and a mating tongue and, the middle step being located between the main base and the mating tongue in a mating direction, the contacts comprising contacting portions exposed on opposite surfaces of the mating tongue; a metallic shell retained on the main base and surrounding the mating tongue and the middle step to define a mating cavity thereamong and a one piece grounding collar. The grounding collar includes a collar portion fitly surrounding the middle step and a grounding plate extending from the collar portion to mechanically and electrically connect with the metallic shell.

Electrical connector with new assembling method

An electrical connector has a receiving space () and includes an insulative housing () and a set of contacts. The insulative housing includes a tongue portion () protruding into the receiving space. The tongue portion has a mating face (), a set of depressions () formed in a front region of the mating face, and a set of passageways () defined in a rear region of the mating face and being spaced away from the depressions. The contacts are held in the tongue portion and include a set of first and second contacts (). The first contacts have elastic first contact portions () being movably received in the passageways and protruding beyond the mating face and into the receiving space, and first tail portions () opposite to the first contact portions. The second contacts have stiff second contact portions () retained in the depressions and exposed to the receiving space, and second tail portions () opposite to the second contact portions. The first and the second tail portions are arranged in only a single row.

Electrical connector with improved contact arrangement

An electrical connector for being mounted on a PCB, has a receiving space () and includes an insulative housing () having a tongue portion () being parallel to the PCB, the tongue portion having a mating face (), a set of depressions () formed in a front region of the mating face, and a set of passageways () formed in a rear region of the mating face; and a set of contacts including a set of first and second contacts (). The first contacts have elastic first contact portions () being movably received in the passageways, first tail portions (), and first connecting portions () extending along the tongue portion. The second contacts have stiff second contact portions () received in the depressions, second tail portions (), and second connecting portions () being parallel to the first connecting portions in a height direction of the tongue portion. The second contact portions () are located at an inner side of the mating face ().

An electrical connector mounted on a mother PCB includes an insulative tongue portion and a number of contacts held in the insulative tongue portion. The contacts have four conductive contacts and at least one pair of differential contacts for transferring high speed signals. The conductive contacts are adapted for USB 2.0 protocol. The contacts include a plurality of first and second tail portions to be arranged in a single row or at least two rows.

Stacked electrical connector with improved signal transmission

A portable storage device () includes a memory device with a USB mating port () and a protective cap () detachably mated with the USB mating port in a mating direction. The USB mating port has an engagement portion (). The protective cap includes a case () for receiving the USB mating port and a latching member () on the case. The latching defines a retaining portion () thereon to engage with the engagement portion () of the USB mating port. The latching member is movable between a disengaged position and an engaged position in the mating direction to thereby engage/disengage the mating port with/from the cap.
