Therapeutic methods for administering gut microbiota and oncolytic viruses to a subject are provided. The gut microbiota serve to pre-condition, the subject's immune system to antitumor responses and augments anticancer activity of the oncolytic vims. Combinations of the gut. microbiota and viruses and uses thereof for treating and preventing cancer are provided. The present disclosure also provides methods for building elite responder selection platforms through hierarchical clustering analysis of genomic profiles for human gut microbiome.

Anti-cancer oncolytic virus combination therapies and elite responder selection platforms

A real-time reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) assay that utilizes multiplex primers and probes with degenerate nucleotides to detect divergent species of lyssavirus is described. The probes used in the RT-PCR assay target a highly conserved region at the 5' end of the lyssavirus genome and are modified with either a minor groove binder (MGB) or locked nucleic acid (LNA) nucleotides to increase their melting temperature. The described assay detects all known lyssavirus species with a sensitivity and specificity superior to traditional hemi-nested PCR and the direct fluorescent antibody (DFA) test.

This disclosure relates to compositions and methods of their use in detection and identification of a chordopoxvirus in a sample, such as diagnosis of an infection in a subject. The compositions and methods allow for detection and identification of all non-avian low-GC content chordopoxviruses, identification of most known high-GC content chordopoxvirus, and species-specific detection of Canarypox virus, Fowlpox virus, and Sealpox virus.

Diagnostic assays for chordopoxviruses

A chair-like exercising apparatus comprises a back, a seat, front legs, rear legs, and resistance element(s) which provide a broad range of resistance force adjustable by the user for the back extension exercise. The chair back pivotally connects to the rear legs directly, and pivotally connects to the front legs or rear legs through the resistance element(s). The resistance element comprises a compress-coil-spring cylinders (or constant-force-spring devices) and the cylinder holders (or the device holders). The resistance level of the back extension exercise is adjusted by switching the interchangeable compress-coil-spring cylinders (or constant-force-spring devices) of appropriate loads inside the cylinder holders (or device holders). A user sits on the chair and sway backward to perform back extension exercise after selecting an appropriate resistance level based on his/her physical condition. The apparatus is simple, affordable and can be used as a regular chair in its locked position. A regular back extension exercise with proper resistance force strengthens the low back muscles (erector spinae), improves and prevents the low back pain symptoms.

The present invention relates to a new molecular pathway in which activation of the receptor-interacting protein (RIP, a serine-threonine kinase) and Jun N-terminal kinase induce cell death with the morphology of autophagy. Further, autophagic death is induced by caspase 8 inhibition and expression of the mammalian genes ATG7 and beclin.

Each of the folding arms includes a plurality of tubular members wherein a tension portion of the respective elongated element is slidably passed through the tubular members in such a manner that when shortening the length of each tension portion of the elongated elements, the tubular members of each folding arm are tensionally coupled with each other ends to ends to outwardly extend the folding arm from the central hub, so as to tensionally stretch out the awning shelter.
