A method of maintaining patient registration in surgical navigation includes: obtaining a patient position in a tracking system frame of reference, based on a fiducial marker array affixed in a first position relative to the patient; receiving an initial surface scan depicting the patient and the fiducial array; responsive to receiving an intraoperative image depicting the patient: obtaining a position, in the tracking system frame of reference, of the fiducial array affixed in a second position relative to the patient; receiving a secondary surface scan depicting the patient and the fiducial array; detecting a deviation in a position of the fiducial marker array relative to the patient between the initial and secondary surface scans; and applying the deviation to the position of the patient to generate an updated position of the patient in the tracking system frame of reference, based on the fiducial array affixed in the second position.

Method, system and apparatus for maintaining patient registration in a surgical navigation system

A medical imaging system for determining a scan orientation is provided. The system comprises: a computing device; a display device; an input device; and, an imaging device, the computing device configured to: instruct the imaging device to acquire at least a sagittal scout scan, an axial scout scan and a coronal scout scan, based on an initial frame of reference; render, at the display device: a two-dimensional representation of each of the scout scans and initial respective selections of a portion of each of the scout scans, oriented according to the initial frame of reference; receive, from the input device, a respective reorientation of one or more of the initial respective selections; transform the initial frame of reference using the respective to produce a reoriented frame of reference; and, instruct the imaging device to acquire further images based on the reoriented frame of reference.

Medical imaging system for determining a scan orientation

A medical imaging system for scan queue management is provided, comprising: a computing device; a display device; and, an imaging device; the computing device configured to: render: a graphical scan queue comprising a first graphical representation of a type of each respective digital image series of a plurality of digital image series, in an order corresponding to an order in which the series are to be acquired; and, a graphical indication of respective total estimated times for acquiring each of the series; render, at the display, a respective graphical timer on each respective first graphical representation as the series are acquired, the respective graphical timer indicating acquisition progress; receive, from the imaging device, the respective series as they are acquired; store the respective series; and, when acquisition of the respective series occurs, render a graphical indicator of a next respective series to be acquired in the scan queue.
