An IC socket includes a plurality of terminals () arranged in a matrix defined by row and column directions perpendicular to each other. The terminal includes a contact arm () extending from a middle portion of the terminal. The contact arm includes a first resilient arm () extending essentially towards the row direction in a first direction, from a top view, and a second resilient arm () angled with the first resilient arm and extending essentially towards the row direction in a second direction, from the top view, different from the first direction. Since the second resilient arm extends essentially toward the row direction, rather than parallel to the row direction, and a larger recess is formed between respective resilient arms of adjacent terminals in a same row, there will not be apt to form a short circuit between any portions of the first lower resilient arm and the second upper resilient arm.

IC socket with contacts

A land grid array socket () includes a dielectric housing () and a number of conductive terminals () secured thereto. A stiffener () having a pair of transverse flanges () and a pair of discrete longitudinal sidewall () is disposed around the housing. A load plate () is pivotally attached to one of the flange for downwardly pressing a land grid array package seated on the terminals toward the housing. A lever () is moveably coupled to the other flange for locking the load plate in position.

An electrical connector assembly () in the present invention comprises an insulative housing (), a plurality contacts () received therein, a placement device () in shape of hollow case for positioning the chip module () onto the housing (), wherein the placement () defines a number of deformable members () to engage with the chip module for simplifying the chip module () to be inserted therein.

Electrical connector assembly

A land grid array (LGA) connector () according to an embodiment of the present invention includes an insulative housing (), a stiffener () coupled to the housing, and a plurality of ribs () projecting from a periphery edge of the housing. The stiffener defines an opening () for surrounding the housing. Each of the ribs has a base defining a mating surface () and a mounting surface (). The stiffener is coupled to the housing by the rib mating surface abutting against a wall face () of the stiffener opening, and the rib mounting surface resting on a peripheral edge () of the stiffener that defines the opening. As such, a reliable coupling between the stiffener and the housing is achieved, thereby having no possibility of releasing the housing from the stiffener by an external, improper force.

Land grid array connector

An electrical contact () used in a socket includes a base portion (), a solder portion () bending front a bottom edge of the base portion, a vertical head () and a spring ann () extending from a top edge of the base portion and a contact portion () formed at a topmost end of the spring arm. The head and the spring arm extending upwardly from two opposite sides of the top edge of the base portion. A relatively large spacing () is defined between the head and the spring arm. The spring arm includes a body section () connecting with the base portion and a stretching section () adjacent the contact portion. This configuration makes the contact be more easily manufactured, thereby manufacturing casts is reduced.

Electrical contact used in an electrical socket

Disclosed is a BGA connector assembly including an insulative housing () with a plurality of terminals () in electrical connection with corresponding solder balls () that extend from a surface of the housing. The solder balls form a soldering region () for attachment to a printed circuit board. The whole electrical connector assembly has a center of gravity biased from a center of the soldering region, and at least one recess () is formed in the housing. The at least one recess prevents the connector assembly from becoming inclined with respect to the printed circuit board when the solder balls are attached to the printed circuit board.

Disclosed is a LGA socket connector including an insulative housing (), a stiffener (), a clip (), and a lever () defining thereof a driving portion () and a locking portion () linked thereto. The stiffener is configured to grasp a periphery of the housing. The clip and the locking portion of the lever are essentially pivotally moved about longitudinal ends of the housing respectively, but with the driving portion disposed adjacent one transverse side of the housing. At least one of the clip and the stiffener is provided with a recessed region () adjacent said transverse side of the housing, thereby preventing the whole connector from becoming inclined when the connector is horizontally locked and placed on the printed circuit board.

LGA socket

An IC card connector comprises an insulative housing and a plurality of contacts. A plurality of passageways is defined through the insulative housing for receiving the corresponding contacts therein. Each contact comprises a first contacting arm, a second contacting arm and a retaining portion connected between the first and second contacting arms. The first contacting arm comprises a first arcuate portion for electrically a contacting corresponding circuit of an IC card and a first connecting portion connected between the first arcuate portion and the retaining portion. The second contacting arm comprises a second arcuate portion, a soldering portion downwardly extending from the second arcuate portion, a second connecting portion extending from the retaining portion to the soldering portion, and a pair of fixing portions extending from lateral edges of the second connecting portion. In operation, after the IC card is inserted into the IC connector, the first arcuate portion is downwardly pressed to contact the second arcuate portion. The contact forms a parallel electrical connection between the IC card and the circuit board. Thus the signal transmission path is shortened and the electrical resistance of the contact in the present IC card connector is decreased.
