Systems and methods for identifying one or more P-waves in real-time are disclosed. Exemplary implementations may: receive a plurality of signals from an ECG lead configured to be connected with a patient; determine a noise level of the plurality of signals during a pre-determined time interval; identify a plurality of QRS-complex candidates from the received plurality of signals; extract one or more features from each QRS-complex candidate based on the determined noise level of the plurality of signals; cluster, based on the extracted one or more features from each QRS-complex candidate, the plurality of QRS-complex candidates; and identify one or more P-waves from the clustered plurality of QRS-complex candidates. Based on the identified one or more P-waves, a heart block event can be detected.

Apparatus and method for electrocardiogram (ECG) signal analysis and heart block detection

The current subject matter determines the location of the J-point in an ECG signal by examining ECG samples within a window of samples between the S-peak and the T-peak. The sample in this range with the smallest distance, &#x394;d, to the R-peak is selected as the J-point. Thus, the J-point location can be determined based on an ECG sample's distance to the R-peak. The J-point location can then be used to determine whether there is elevation or depression of the ST segment. Related apparatus, systems, techniques, and articles are also described.

Locating J-points in electrocardiogram signals

A patient monitoring device and method that determines and monitors at least one patient parameter is provided. A configuration processor generates configuration information in response to a first input signal and an adaptive notch filter receives a second input signal. The second input signal includes a signal of interest and an interference signal in a predetermined frequency range. The adaptive notch filter automatically estimates the interference signal within the second input signal based on a filter parameter and removes the estimated interference signal from the second input signal to generate a target signal. A step processor is electrically coupled between the configuration processor and the adaptive notch filter and sets a value of the filter parameter based on the configuration information, wherein the adaptive notch filter uses the filter parameter to reduce a ringing artifact on the target signal below a threshold level.

A system includes a low pass-filter and a Savitzky-Golay filter. The low-pass filter receives and processes a first electrocardiogram signal. The filter removes at least the high frequency components of the first electrocardiogram signal. The Savitzky-Golay filter estimates a baseline variation of the first electrocardiogram signal from the filtered first electrocardiogram signal. An apparatus and method for determining a signal quality of an input signal representing a repetitious phenomena derived from at least one sensor connected to a patient is provided. A detector receives the input signal and determines data representing the repetitious phenomena from the input signal for use in determining at least one patient parameter. A measurement processor is electrically coupled to the detector that determines a first signal quality value by identifying at least one feature of the repetitious phenomena data and compares the at least one feature of a first set of the determined repetitious phenomena data with a second set of the determined repetitious phenomena data to determine a feature variability value and using the feature variability value to determine a stability value representative of the quality of the input signal.

Apparatus and method for measuring physiological signal quality

A method of calibrating a metabolic analyzer incorporating an oxygen analyzer and a NDIR carbon dioxide analyzer in the field that does not require the use of gas cylinders containing gases of known concentration is described. In calibrating the COdetector, at the time of factory setup, the detector output for a gas of a known concentration is measured and stored in the memory of the metabolic analyzer's microprocessor, as is the detector output voltage when the IR source is dimmed by a known percentage. Subsequently, in the field, COlevels in ambient air and cell pressure are measured at two different flow rates through the sample chamber and the IR source is again dimmed by the same percentage as had been used at the time of factory setup. Based upon the resulting readings, both the zeroing and span adjustment factors can be computed.

Gasless calibration in metabolic gas analyzers

A device for directly measuring a person's respiratory exchange ratio (RER) utilizes a Zn-air battery cell and a constant current load circuit as an Opump capable of drawing oxygen from expired air. A thermistor located in the flow path forms a leg of a bridge circuit whose output is proportional to oxygen concentration in the expired air and, therefore, to oxygen uptake. The thermistor flowmeter circuit utilizes the thermal conductivity differences between Oand COto provide a measure at the relative ratio of the two gases present.
