A method for converting a wrapping machine into a transport condition, said wrapping machine comprising a wrapping machine frame, as well as a circular guide mounted on the frame, whereby, in order to convert the wrapping machine into a transport condition, the circular guide mounted on the wrapping machine frame is tilted with respect to the wrapping machine frame. The invention relates also to such a wrapping machine.

Method for converting a wrapping machine into a transport condition, and a wrapping machine

A method and a system for setting corner protectors on a load. In operation of one embodiment, an actuator retrieves a two corner protectors from a corner protector storage and provides the corner protectors to a corner protector transferring and setting system. The corner protector transferring and setting system transfers the corner protectors to a side of the load furthest from the actuator and sets the corner protectors against the two adjacent vertically extending corners of that side of the load. The actuator retrieves another two corner protectors from the corner protector storage and sets the two corner protectors against the two vertically extending corners of a side of the load closest to the actuator. A wrapping machine then wraps a film around the corner protectors and the load, thereby securing the corner protectors in place.

Method and apparatus for setting corner protectors on a load

A wrapping machine and a method for wrapping a plastic foil web (F) around an object. A gripping and cutting device () is connected to a lifting frame () supporting a circular guide track of a foil dispenser () so as to be vertically movable with the lifting frame. In the method, the wrapping action is started from a freely chosen point relative to the vertical direction of the object and ended correspondingly at a freely chosen point relative to the vertical direction of the object.

Method of wrapping a plastic foil web around an object

A wrapping machine having a pre-stretching device including a first pre-stretching roller and a second pre-stretching roller, which are tractively coupled via power transmission gears. A first deflecting pinch roller has been fitted to be pressed against the first pre-stretching roller to form a first nip for the film web passed between the first deflecting pinch roller and the first pre-stretching roller. A second deflecting pinch roller has been fined to be pressed against the second pre-stretching roller to form a second nip for the film web passed between the second deflecting pinch roller and the second pre-stretching roller. A lever mechanism moves the first pre-stretching roller between an engagement position and a disengagement position, so that the lever mechanism also moves the first deflecting pinch roller apart from the first pre-stretching roller and simultaneously the second deflecting pinch roller apart from the second pre-stretching roller to allow easier thread-in of the film web end.

Wrapping machine

A wrapping apparatus, in which the supporting elements supporting a film roll are mounted on the frame of a film dispenser with bearings permitting free rotation so that the film roll supported by them is freely rotatable. The pre-stretching rollers are mutually engaged via a transmission and are likewise mounted on the frame with bearings permitting free rotation. A pendulum roller in the film dispenser and the spring force of a spring applying a load on it have been so adapted that the pendulum roller forms between the second pre-stretching roller and the deflecting roller a bend that functions as a film supply containing a varying amount of film, depending on the prevailing draw of the film to keep the drawing velocity and tension of the film substantially constant at the pre-stretching rollers regardless of the variation in the draw and velocity of the film that is caused by the shape of the article being wrapped.

Wrapping apparatus

A wrapping machine and/or a top foil wrapping machine machine frame, which is supported on a fixed base and has upright vertical columns and horizontal cross members connecting the vertical columns to each other. Each vertical column has at least two column parts detachably joined together end on end, the column parts including a lower column part and an upper column part. Only the lower column parts of the vertical columns are connected to each other by the cross members while the upper column parts are not connected to each other. To store and/or transport the machine, the machine is reduced to a low size (A) for packaging, by detaching the upper column parts from the lower column parts of the vertical columns. The upper column parts may be reattached to the lower column parts to install the machine from the packaged size (A) to a full working size (B).

Wrapping machine and top foil wrapping machine

The invention relates to a crinkling device comprising a slide rod (), to which a second crinkling element () is fastened. The slide rod is guided in a frame () so as to be movable in a substantially vertical direction between a lower position (L), in which the second crinkling element () is out of contact with the lower edge () of a foil web (), and an upper position (U), in which the second crinkling element () deflects the lower edge () of the foil web () upwards so as to crinkle it. The slide rod returns to the lower position (L) when not exposed to a force acting in the upward direction. The device further comprises first coupling means (, 18) for forming a releasable coupling between the slide rod () and a first drive element portion () when the drive element () is running in a first direction () to move the second crinkling element () to the upper position (U). Second coupling means () are provided to form a releasable coupling between the slide rod () and a second drive element portion () when the drive element () is running in a second direction () to move the second crinkling element () to the upper position (U). By driving the drive element () in the first running direction (), the foil web () can only be crinkled from its lower edge (). By driving the drive element () in the second running direction (), the foil web () can be crinkled optionally either from the upper edge () by a first crinkling element () without crinkling the lower edge () or from the upper edge () and the lower edge () simultaneously.

Crinkling device

The invention relates to a wrapping machine and/or top foil wrapping machine, comprising a machine frame supported on a fixed base and comprising upright vertical columns; a lifting frame arranged to be vertically movable upwards and downwards and guided by the vertical columns; a lifting motor for moving the lifting frame, power transmission means for the transmission of power from the lifting motor to produce vertical motion of the lifting frame, said power transmission means comprising elongate flexible drive elements and wheels for the transmission of the power of the lifting motor to the drive elements. The wrapping machine further comprises a foil dispenser, on which a foil web roll can be rotatably supported. The top foil wrapping machine comprises a top foil depositor. The lifting motor is secured to the lifting frame so as to be movable with it. The wheels comprise a drive belt pulley fitted for reeling a flat belt. The drive belt pulley is rotatably mounted on bearings on the lifting frame and rotated by the lifting motor. Each one of the elongate drive elements consists of a drive belt whose first end is secured to the upper end of the vertical columns while the second end is secured to the drive belt pulley.

A method of wrapping an object with wrapping material includes the steps of wrapping a first wrapping film around the object during a first portion of a wrapping cycle; and simultaneously wrapping the first wrapping film and a second wrapping film around the object during a second portion of the wrapping cycle. The simultaneous wrapping includes bringing the second wrapping film into contact with the first wrapping film thereby causing the second wrapping film to adhere to the first wrapping film, wrapping the object with the adhered first and second wrapping films, and severing the second wrapping film, with a severing device, after a predetermined length of the second wrapping film has been wrapped onto the object.

Method for wrapping a wrapping film around an object

A film treatment device has a cutting device ( ) for cutting a plastic film web (F). The cutting device ( ) has an elongated electric resistor ( ) fastened by both ends with fastening elements ( ), against which resistor the film web can be pressed and cut via heating of the electric resistor. The cutting device ( ) also has a supporting element ( ) arranged to support the electric resistor laterally substantially over the entire length of the electric resistor between the fastening elements ( ).

Film treatment device and wrapping apparatus

An apparatus for setting a corner protector on a corner of a package comprises a gripping and positioning device ( ) for gripping the corner protector and placing it onto the corner of the package, and a corner protector magazine ( ). A storage space ( ) in the magazine stores corner protectors arranged as a file. Conveying means ( ) move the file in the storage space toward the delivery end. A gate ( ) has been arranged to be moved between a closed position (II) and an open position (I). An arresting device ( ) is provided with a separating tab ( ) which moves between an arresting position (A) and a releasing position (B). In the arresting position (A), the separating tab is between the foremost corner protector ( ) in the file and the second corner protector ( ) next in the file so as to arrest the file of corner protectors while the gate ( ) is in the open position (II). In the releasing position (B) the separating tab is out of the way of the corner protector ( ) when the gate is in the closed position (I) so as to release the second corner protector to make it the foremost corner protector in the file so that it is pressed against the closed gate while the previous foremost corner protector is in the grip of the gripping and positioning device.

Apparatus for setting a corner protector on the corner of a package and system for protecting a package

Wrapping apparatus for winding a web of wrapping foil (F) around an object (,). The wrapping apparatus comprises a ring guideway (,) defining a track of variable curvature and foil dispenser (,). The foil dispenser is provided with idler assemblies (,) supporting the foil dispenser as it moves along the ring guideway. In the idler assembly, an inner idler (,) mounted with bearings on the foil dispenser frame (,) leans by its circumference on an inner rolling surface (,) of the guideway (,). A first outer idler (,) leans by its circumference on an outer rolling surface (,). A lateral idler (,) leans on a lateral rolling surface (,). The idler assembly comprises a second outer idler (,), which leans on the outer rolling surface (,) at a distance from the first outer idler (,). A pivoted frame (,) is mounted with bearings on the frame so that it can turn about a swing axis co-incident with the axis of rotation of the inner idler (,). Device for winding a wrapping film around an article (1) to be packaged, the article to be packaged having the shape of a substantially flat rectangle in cross-section. The article to be packaged comprises two substantially parallel broad sides (2, 3) and two narrow sides (4,5), the edges between the broad and narrow sides forming supporting points (6) for the wrapping film. The device comprises a film distributor (7) disposed to travel along a ring-like endless track (8) at a substantially constant speed around the article to be packaged. The track (8) of the film distributor (7) is so formed that the track radius (r) from the track to the supporting point (6) increases continuously at least in the track area (S) where the film portion (12) drawn from the roll in the direction of the radius and stretched between the film distributor and the supporting point (6) approaches a position parallel to at least one broad side (2; 3) of the article being packaged, such position corresponding to a point (0) where a straight line in the direction of the broad side intersects the track (8), so that, when the point (0) is being approached and at the point, a tangent (T) to the track is at a smaller angle to the straight line in the direction of the broad side than a tangent to an imaginary circular path, the rate of increase of the radius (r) at least in the area of the track and the rate of delivery of film from the film roll (9) being higher than if the track followed the imaginary circular path mentioned.

Device for winding a wrapping film around an article to be packaged

Method and apparatus for exchanging film rolls during a wrapping operation in a wrapping machine which is arranged to wind wrapping film around the product being packaged, the product being stationary or rotated around a horizontal axis. The wrapping machine includes a film distribution sledge provided with tension rolls mounted on a rotatable wrapping crank. A cassette or the like holding a plurality of new film rolls is provided at a film roll exchange station. A transfer sledge removes an old film roll or bushing from the film distribution sledge and transfers a new film roll or bushing from the cassette into the film distribution sledge. A device is provided at the exchange station for passing an end region of the film of the new film roll over the tension rolls of the film distribution sledge to a grasping member during the film roll exchange operation. A frame carrying a set of press rolls is coupled to the film distribution sledge so as to moveable between a closed position in which the press rolls are pressed against the tension rolls and an open position in which the press rolls are spaced from the tension rolls. The new film roll is shifted by the transfer sledge into the film distribution sledge through the space between the press and tension rolls when the press roll-carrying frame is in its open position.
