A skin treatment system () such as a depilating system comprises a functional member () that is configured to perform a treatment action on skin () and to be moved over the skin () during operation of the system (), and a measurement unit () including a measurement member () that is configured to also be moved over the skin () during operation of the functional member () and to contact the skin () in the process. The measurement unit () is configured to measure at least a force value in an advancing direction in which the measurement member () is moved over the skin () during operation of the functional member (). The measured force value in the advancing direction is used for the purpose of determining a friction coefficient value representative of the friction coefficient of the skin (), which allows for assessing skin condition.

Skin treatment system

A skin treatment system () comprises a functional member () configured to perform a treatment action on skin () and to be moved over the skin () during operation of the system (), and a measurement unit () including a measurement member () configured to be moved over the skin () along with the functional member () and to be made to indent the skin () in the process. The measurement member () is displaceable in the measurement unit (), and the measurement unit () is configured to measure a value related to an extent to which the measurement member () gets displaced relative to a default position in the measurement unit () by action of the skin (). The measured value corresponds to a measure of an extent to which the skin is indented by the measurement member (). On the basis of measurement results generated by the measurement unit (), it is possible to automatically adapt operation of the system () to the type of body area under treatment.

A depilating device () comprises a depilating body () which is rotatable about a rotation axis (R) extending in a longitudinal direction (L) with respect to the depilating body () and which is provided with at least one hair-catching space (). The depilating device () further comprises an actuating mechanism () configured to act on the depilating body () so as to cause compression and extension of the depilating body () in the longitudinal direction (L) during rotational movement of the depilating body () about the rotation axis (R), for the purpose of varying the size of the hair-catching space () of the depilating body () in the longitudinal direction (L), wherein the actuating mechanism () includes a force-inducing member () which is compressible and extensible in the longitudinal direction (L) and which has a function in determining the level of a hair-clamping force in the depilating body ().

Depilating device

A two-dimensional force sensor for measuring a first force in a first direction and a second force in a second direction. The sensor comprises a first resilient plate oriented in the second direction, a first end of the first resilient plate being arranged for being coupled to a reference point; a second resilient plate oriented in the first direction, a first end of the second resilient plate coupled to a second end of the first resilient plate and a measurement probe coupled to a second end of the second resilient plate. The measurement probe is mounted on an extension device mounted to the second end of the second resilient plate. The extension device positions the measurement probe at a position deviating from an imaginary cross-section point of the first resilient plate and the second resilient plate by no more than 20% of a length of the extension device.

Two-dimensional force sensor for measuring first and second forces in a first and second direction

In a hair styling device () having a two-dimensional array () of elements to bring hair at a styling temperature, the elements produce optical radiation energy. The elements may include one or more LEDs, and preferably a plurality of LEDs, in which case the LEDS are driven in clusters that may be of mutually different shapes and sizes. The hair styling device () further comprises sensors to obtain an areal light absorption measurement opposed to the two-dimensional array of elements, and a control unit for individually controlling the elements in dependence of the measurement. The sensors may be arranged for measuring an areal light density profile of a whole treatment area. The hair styling device may radiate hair from two sides, both of which includes an areal light absorption measurement. The sensors may include LEDs that do not produce light.

Hair styling device

A device for measuring hair properties has a first part (I) and a second part (II) between which hair (H) is guided. The first part includes a measuring probe (MP), and the second part is arranged for deforming the hair against the measuring probe. While the device moves along the hair, the measuring probe experiences both a friction force resulting from the hair being guided along the measuring probe, and a deformation force resulting from hair deformation by the second part against the measuring probe. The second part includes a pressure element (PB, S) for pressing the hair against the measuring probe. In alternative embodiments, the second part comprises alignment elements (AE) at opposite sides of the measuring probe, and guidance elements (G) for mitigating an influence of an angle at which the device is applied to the hair to the friction force and/or the deformation force.

Device for measuring hair properties

The present disclosure concerns a lighting device () and a method of masking an edge transition (). An edge structure () provides the light with a first edge transition (L) along a circumference () of the edge structure (). A patterned layer () is provided between the edge structure () and the front side () of the device. The patterned layer () comprises a gradient edge pattern () configured to provide the transmitted light with a second edge transition (L). The gradient edge pattern () is configured with respect to the circumference () of the edge structure () to smoothen the first edge transition (L). A diffuser () is disposed between the front side () and the patterned layer () for scattering the light of the second edge transition (L) to smoothen the second edge transition (L) of the gradient edge pattern ().

The invention relates to a shaver, comprising a handle, at least two rotary shaving heads, driven by at least one drive shaft which protrudes from said handle, and a support structure for supporting said shaving heads onto the handle so as to have their joined shaving surface (S) extend substantially perpendicular to said at least one drive shaft. Breath pacing device and method for packing the respiratory activity of a subject

A shaving head includes at least one cutting unit in which an external cutting member is subjected to a shaving action. The external cutting member is suspended relative to a holder of the shaving head through suspension means. The suspension means includes at least two pivot constructions, wherein one pivot construction enables a member of the suspension means to be pivotable relative to the holder. The other pivot construction enables the external cutting member to be pivotable relative to the suspension member. Furthermore, a pivoting stiffness of a connection of the latter pivot construction is lower than a pivoting stiffness of the first pivot construction. In this manner, good contour following performance is obtained at two levels, in both relatively small and relatively large curvature changing areas.
