A heavy-duty vehicle may include a vehicle frame, a plurality of rear-wheel assemblies, and a plurality of front-wheel assemblies. The wheel assemblies are mounted to the vehicle frame. Each of the front-wheel assemblies may include a rim, a spindle, a brake assembly, a motor, and a transmission assembly. The spindle may be at least partially disposed within the rim. The brake assembly may be disposed within the rim and may extend around the spindle. The motor may be disposed within the cavity in the spindle. At least a portion of the motor is disposed between first and second axial ends of the rim. The transmission assembly may be disposed within the rim. The transmission assembly may transmit rotary motion of the motor to the rim to rotate the rim relative to the spindle.

Vehicle with front-wheel-assist system

A dump truck, which travels in travel directions and dumps loads in a dumping direction collinear to one of the travel directions, includes: a chassis provided with tires at front and rear parts in the travel direction; an obstacle detector provided at a dump-side end of the chassis, the obstacle detector detecting an obstacle in the dumping direction of the chassis; and a shifter that is capable of moving the obstacle detector to a first position at which the obstacle detector protrudes beyond dump-side ends of the tires and to a second position at which the obstacle detector is located inner than the dump-side ends of the tires.

Dump truck

A dump truck configured to move in both front and back directions and dump loads in a first one of the directions includes: a chassis including an engine within a wheelbase; and a dump body covering an upper portion of the chassis across an entire length in travel direction and an entire width in vehicle width direction, the dump body supported so as to be able to be raised and lowered via a hinge by a side of the chassis near which loads are dumped. The dump body includes: a first inclined a side of the dump body from portion rising upward from a bottom portion of the dump body toward the side thereof from which loads are dumped; and a second, inclined portion inclined downward from an upper end of the first inclined portion to an end of the side of the dump body from which loads are dumped.
