The invention provides a charged particle irradiation apparatus including: a collimator apparatus provided in an irradiation nozzle that emits a charged particle beam to an irradiation target; and a collimator control unit that controls the collimator apparatus. The collimator apparatus includes a collimator mechanism having one or more arm-shape collimators extending from a base part and a drive mechanism that moves the collimator mechanism on a plane perpendicular to a traveling direction of a charged particle beam. The arm-shape collimator includes one or more movable leaves that rotate independently of each other on the perpendicular plane. By moving the collimator mechanism and/or rotating the movable leaves so that the arm-shape collimators are arranged along a shape of an edge of an irradiation target on the perpendicular plane, the collimator control unit causes the arm-shape collimators to block a charged particle beam that would otherwise irradiate outside of the edge of the irradiation target.

Charged particle irradiation apparatus

The invention provides a patient shuttle system and an irradiation system for particle therapy. A patient shuttle system of one embodiment of the invention includes: a patient table () adapted to carry a patient; a patient table drive unit () that moves and/or rotates the patient table; and a transfer unit () having a base () on which the patient table drive unit is placed. In a home position state of the patient shuttle system (), the patient table and first and second arms of the patient table drive unit are configured to be folded in the height direction (Z-axis). A robot arm base connected to the second arm is fixed at a position off the center of the base in plan view, and thereby a helper space () where a helper may ride is secured on the base. The robot arm base is fixed in a recess () provided in the base.

Patient shuttle system and irradiation system for particle therapy

Provided is a charged particle irradiation apparatus that performs scanning with a charged particle beam and irradiates an irradiation target spot by spot. An embodiment of the present invention provides a charged particle irradiation apparatus () including: a first dose monitor () mounted in an irradiation nozzle (); an irradiation pattern converting device () that generates irradiation control data used for controlling the charged particle irradiation apparatus () from treatment plan data including information on a dose rate and a dose of a charged particle beam for each spot; and a dose correction factor storage unit () that stores data of a dose correction factor with respect to a dose rate of a charged particle beam. The irradiation pattern converting device () is configured to select one spot in the treatment plan data, for instance.

The present invention relates to a superconducting electromagnet apparatus having a group of superconducting electromagnets including a first superconducting electromagnet and a second superconducting electromagnet arranged adjacent to the first superconducting electromagnet. Effective magnetic field regions generated by the first and second superconducting electromagnets, respectively, are formed to satisfy predetermined relational equations.

The invention provides a charged particle irradiation apparatus including: a focusing magnet that deflects a charged particle beam to continuously change an irradiation angle of the beam to an isocenter; an irradiation nozzle that continuously moves along a shape on an exit side of an effective magnetic field region of the focusing magnet, wherein the beam exiting the focusing magnet is emitted to the isocenter through the irradiation nozzle; a power supply rail along the shape on the exit side of the region; and a collector shoe fixed to the irradiation nozzle and configured to slide along the rail to supply power from the rail to the irradiation nozzle. A surface of the collector shoe contacted with the rail has the same bend radius as or average bend radius of the rail, and/or the collector shoe slides along the rail in contact with a flat side surface of the rail.

A patient shuttle system, an irradiation system for particle therapy and an operation method thereof are provided. One embodiment of the present invention provides a patient shuttle system including a patient table on which a patient is placed, a drive device that causes the patient table to move parallel and/or rotate, and a drive control device that controls parallel movement and/or rotation of the patient table by the drive device, in accordance with a parallel movement amount and/or a rotation amount of the patient table that are received from a patient positioning system provided in a treatment room for particle therapy.

Patient shuttle system, irradiation system for particle therapy and operation method thereof

An embodiment of the invention is a focusing magnet including a coil pair arranged on both sides of a path of a charged particle beam. The coil pair generates an effective magnetic field region in which a magnetic field is oriented in a direction (z-axis) perpendicular to a traveling direction (x-axis) of a charged particle beam.
