An autonomous, mobile robotic device (AMR) is configured with one or more UVC radiation sources, and operates to traverse a path while disinfecting an interior space. Each UVC radiation source is connected to the AMR by an articulating arm that is controlled to orient each source towards a feature or surface that is selected for disinfection during the time that the AMR is moving through the space. The location of each feature selected for disinfection can be mapped, and this map information, a current AMR location and pose can be used to generate signals that are used to control the articulating arm to orient each UVC lamp towards a feature that is selected for disinfection.

A method includes receiving, at a mobile teleconferencing robot, a remote user input to alter a viewing state of a vision system of the robot. The vision system includes a forward imaging sensor arranged to capture a forward video feed, a right imaging sensor arranged to capture a right video feed, and a left imaging sensor arranged to capture a left video feed, each with respect to a forward drive direction of the mobile teleconferencing robot. The method includes altering the viewing state of the vision system by adjusting a tilt angle and/or a zoom level of the forward imaging sensor based on the remote user input and generating a combined video feed that provides an immersive peripheral view about the robot. The combined video feed is generated by combining the forward video feed with a portion of the right video feed and a portion of the left video feed.

A videoconference multipoint control unit (MCU) automatically generates display layouts for videoconference endpoints. Display layouts are generated based on attributes associated with video streams received from the endpoints and display configuration information of the endpoints. An endpoint can include one or more attributes in each outgoing stream. Attributes can be assigned based on video streams' role, content, camera source, etc. Display layouts can be regenerated if one or more attributes change. A mixer can generate video streams to be displayed at the endpoints based on the display layout.

A videoconferencing system includes a touch screen display device and a videoconferencing unit. The display device displays video data for the videoconference and generates touch data based on user selections relative to the touch screen. The videoconferencing unit is operatively coupled to the touch screen device by a video connection and a data interface connection, for example. The unit establishes and conducts a videoconference with one or more endpoints via a network. The unit sends video data to the display device and receives touch data from the device. The received touch data is used to control operation of the videoconferencing system. The received touch data can be used to initiate a videoconference call, change an operating parameter, change orientation of a camera, initiate a picture-in-picture display, access a menu, access memory, change a source of video data, initiate a whiteboard display, and access a screen of a connected device.

A videoconferencing system for enhanced telepresence employs a single wide aspect ratio high resolution camera for capturing video images of near end conference participants. Captured video image can be divided into adjacent portions, where video images corresponding to each portion is separately encoded and sent to a far end videoconferencing system to be displayed on adjacently placed display devices. Misalignment in displayed images at the far end can be mitigated by selecting portions that are non-overlapping and horizontally aligned. Number and size of the portions can be determined based on configuration information of the far end videoconferencing system.

An integrated videoconferencing system has a credenza that houses three displays at predefined angles with respect to one another. A table positions in from the credenza for seating participants across from the credenza's displays. The table has three seating sections that are angled at another predefined angle with respect to one another. Three cameras are positioned in the top of the credenza, and each has a view angle directed perpendicularly at one of the seating sections. The table can also have a portion that interconnects with the credenza. In use, the integrated system allows the participants to conduct a telepresence videoconference in which the near-end participants can interact with the far-end participants as if they were all seated at the same conference table in the room together.

Automatic video layouts for multi-stream multi-site telepresence conferencing system

A video conference system provides 'in the room' telepresence to near end participants. The video conference system includes a frameless or bezelless display device placed in front of a front wall for displaying edge-to-edge 3D images of far end participants. Color of the near end front wall is configured to be the same as the color of the far end rear wall. As a result, images displayed on the display device can merge or blend into the near end front wall, giving the near end participants the perception that the far end participants are actually in the near end conference room. Brightness of the faces/bodies of the near end participants can also be adjusted to match the brightness of the face/bodies of the images of the far end participants as they appear on the display device&#x2014;therefore enhancing the in the room perception of the far end participants.

Method and apparatus to virtualize people with 3D effect into a remote room on a telepresence call for true in person experience

A camera tracking system includes a controllable camera, an array of microphones, and a controller. The microphones are positioned adjacent the controllable camera and are at least responsive to ultrasound emitted from a source. The microphones may additionally be capable of responding to sound in the audible spectrum. The controller receives ultrasound signals communicated from the microphones in response to ultrasound emitted from the source and processes the ultrasound signals to determine an at least approximate location of the source. Then, the controller sends one or more command signals to the controllable camera to direct at least approximately at the determined location of the source. The camera tracking system tracks the source as it moves and continues to emit ultrasound. The source can be an emitter pack having one or more ultrasonic transducers that produce tones that sweep form about 24-kHz to about 40-kHz.

A distance learning scenario includes a local classroom having a local videoconferencing device communicating with a remote videoconferencing device at a remote classroom. A first local camera captures images of the local participants, a second local camera captures images of an instructor, and a local display screen displays images of remote participants. At the remote location, a first remote camera captures images of remote participants, a first remote display screen displays images of local participants, and a second remote display screen displays images of the instructor. The local display screen is situated on a side of the local presenter that is substantially opposite to the side on which the first remote display screen is situated relative to the second remote display screen at the remote location to implement video-mirroring. The local and remote display screens display life-size images of the participants and the instructor.
