A display apparatus includes a display panel, a driving controller and a data driver. The driving controller divides input image data into a plurality of partial image data corresponding to a plurality of display areas of the display panel, calculates local loads corresponding to the plurality of partial image data, determines a scale factor based on the local loads, and applies the scale factor to the input image data to generate a data signal. The data driver converts the data signal to a data voltage and outputs the data voltage to the display panel. The scale factor for a center display area corresponding to a center of the display panel among the plurality of display areas is determined differently from the scale factor for an edge display area corresponding to an edge of the display panel among the plurality of display areas.

Display apparatus driving panel based on scale factor and method using the same

A display apparatus includes: a display panel; a driving controller, which receives input image data including a plurality of normal image frames and a plurality of black image frames, receives a flag indicating a type of each of frames included in the input image data, generates intermediate image data by adjusting a grayscale of the input image data based on the input image data and the flag, and generates a data signal based on the intermediate image data where the type includes a normal image frame and a black image frame; and a data driver, which generates a data voltage based on the data signal and outputs the data voltage to the display panel.

Display apparatus and method of driving the same

A display device includes a display panel including a plurality of pixels, a current sensor that senses a sensing current that flows through the pixels, and a data compensator. The data compensator calculates a target current from an image frame of input image data using a current deviation for each position of the image frame and a current contribution ratio for each color of the image frame, and that generates a scale factor by comparing the target current and the sensing current. The display device further includes a timing controller that generates output image data by scaling grayscale values of the input image data using the scale factor; and a data driver that provides a data signal corresponding to the output image data to the pixels.

Data compensator, display device, and method of driving display device

A display device includes a display panel, a driving controller, and a voltage generator. The display panel includes a plurality of pixels. Each of the pixels receives a driving voltage through a first voltage line. The driving controller receives an input image signal including first to third color signals and outputs a voltage control signal for controlling a voltage level of the driving voltage based on the first to third color signals. The voltage generator provides the driving voltage to the first voltage line and determines the voltage level of the driving voltage based on the voltage control signal. The driving controller determines first to third gate-source voltages respectively corresponding to the first to third color signals and outputs the voltage control signal based on the first to third gate-source voltages.

Display device and method of driving thereof

A display device including: a display panel including first through N-th pixel rows; and a panel driver configured to sequentially receive first through N-th line data for the first through the N-th pixel rows in each frame period, and to drive the display panel based on the first through the N-th line data, the panel driver including: a current control circuit configured to determine a current control value for a (K+1)-th pixel row based on the first through K-th line data for the first through K-th pixel rows received in a current frame period and (K+1)-th through the N-th line data for the (K+1)-th through the N-th pixel rows received in a previous frame period; and a data correction circuit configured to correct the (K+1)-th line data for the (K+1)-th pixel row based on the current control value in the current frame period.

A display device includes a display panel and a display panel driver. The display panel includes pixels. The display panel driver determines an average image load of input image data, determines an operation mode based on a grayscale value of the input image data and the average image load as a first operation mode or a second operation mode, applies a first scale factor to the input image data in the first operation mode, applies a second scale factor different from the first scale factor to the input image data in the second operation mode, and drives the display panel.

A display device includes a display panel including a plurality of pixels, an image data corrector configured to generate a corrected image data by adjusting an image data and a data driver providing data signals to the plurality of pixels based on the corrected image data. The image data corrector divides the display panel into a plurality of unit areas, and adjust the image data for a unit area among the plurality of unit areas by using a full image load for the entire display panel, a first image load for the unit area, and a second image load for peripheral unit areas surrounding the unit area among the plurality of unit areas.

A display device includes a display panel, a luminance compensator, and a data driver. The display panel includes a plurality of pixels. The luminance compensator is configured to calculate a scaling factor based on a target current, a black image current, and a sensing current. The target current is calculated based on an input current input to the display panel. The sensing current is measured from the display panel. The data voltage has a voltage level adjusted based on the scaling factor.

A display device includes: a display panel including a plurality of pixels connected to a plurality of scan lines and a plurality of data lines, respectively; a scan driver, which provides a scan signal to the pixels through the scan lines; a data driver, which provides a data voltage to the pixels through the data lines; and a controller, which controls the scan driver and the data driver, and receives input image data at a variable input frame frequency. The controller determines whether a gray scale value of the input image data is included in any range of a first gray scale range and a second gray scale range different from the first gray scale range, and dithers the input image data when it is determined that the gray scale value of the input image data is included the first gray scale range.
