The present disclosure relates to a composition for preparing hexanol or butanol and a method for preparing hexanol or butanol using ethanol and synthesis gas, wherein the composition according to an aspect of the present disclosure is a medium composition containing ethanol as an active ingredient, and by culturing a strain producing hexanol or butanol after inoculating with a medium containing the composition and supplying synthesis gas, hexanol or butanol can be prepared economically using inexpensive synthesis gas, and hexanol or butanol can be prepared with high efficiency by focusing the flow of a carbon source consumed in a fermentation process to the production of hexanol or butanol.

Medium composition for producing alcohol from synthetic gas comprising ethanol and method for producing alcohol using the same

The present specification relates to a transformed yeast strain capable of simultaneously utilizing xylose and glucose as carbon sources, a preparation method thereof and a biofuel production method using the same. The transformed yeast strain transforms a wild-type yeast strain incapable of using xylose as a carbon source and simultaneously convert glucose and xylose, thereby enabling high yield production of a biofuel. The economics and sustainability of the biofuel and biomaterial production processes can be highly enhanced by providing a strain which can easily be converted to a strain capable of producing a biofuel/material in a high yield through an additional modification.

Disclosed herein are a yeast strain capable of utilizing xylose as a carbon source and a method for producing lipids using the same. The yeast strain is obtained by adaptively evolving a wild-type yeast strain which cannot utilize xylose as a carbon source so that it can produce high density lipids and then transforming the adaptively evolved strain to obtain the ability to metabolize xylose. Since the strain does not have the xylose metabolic pathway based on oxidoreductase, it can produce biodiesel and biomaterials based on lipid and lignocellulosic biomass at a high yield without a problem of cofactor imbalance and can greatly improve the economic feasibility and sustainability of the production processes of biodiesel and biomaterials.

The present disclosure relates to a method for separating sugars and acids with reduced energy consumption, including a step of diffusively dialyzing a first acid hydrolysate obtained by saccharifying biomass with an acid solution, thereby preparing a second acid hydrolysate wherein the concentration of the acid solution contained in the acid hydrolysate is decreased; and a step of electrolyzing the second acid hydrolysate, thereby separating sugars from the acid solution, which is advantageous in that less energy is consumed, the separated acid solution can be recycled directly without further treatment due to high concentration and loss of sugars can be minimized.

The present specification discloses a transformedstrain which may directly produce squalene from carbon dioxide, and a method for producing squalene and a method for removing carbon dioxide, using the same. In an aspect, the strain may produce squalene using carbon dioxide as a carbon source. Thestrain is economically efficient because a high-value added squalene is produced using light and carbon dioxide present in the atmosphere as a carbon source, and the method for producing squalene is eco-friendly because the strain may be utilized to remove or reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere by using microorganisms. The strain of the present disclosure may produce only squalene, which is a desired target material with high purity, and has an advantage in that squalene may be continuously mass-produced.

The present disclosure relates to a hydrolysate of a mixture of lignocellulosic biomass and seaweed biomass. By mixing seaweed biomass with lignocellulosic biomass and then preparing a hydrolysate, lignocellulosic biomass-derived acetic acid is consumed together with seaweed biomass-derived mannitol. As a result, high sugar productivity can be maintained while reducing fermentation inhibitors. Because the present disclosure can solve the problem of lignocellulosic biomass of decreased fermentation efficiency due to lignocellulose-derived fermentation inhibitors and the problem of seaweed biomass of very low productivity in spite of long fermentation time, the hydrolysate according to the present disclosure may be used to produce biofuels and biochemicals economically.

The present disclosure discloses a transformedstrain capable of producing biodiesel directly from carbon dioxide and a method for producing biodiesel and a method for removing carbon dioxide using the same. In an aspect, the transformedstrain of the present disclosure can produce biodiesel in large scale using carbon dioxide as a carbon source. Thestrain is environment-friendly because it can be used to remove or reduce carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. The strain of the present disclosure is advantageous in that it can produce biodiesel in large scale because it grows faster and exhibits excellent carbon dioxide fixation capability as compared to other photosynthetic microorganisms.

The present disclosure discloses a vector that can be used for both cyanobacteria and, which contains, sequentially, a pUC replication origin as a replication origin; a spectinomycin-resistant gene as a selection marker; and a promoter selected from a group consisting of a trc promoter, a tetA promoter or a modified tetA promoter, a BAD promoter and a cbbL promoter. An industrially useful substance may be produced effectively using a host cell transformed with the vector. Also, the vector may be used to insert a variety of target genes through simple combination and, as a result, various vectors can be prepared effectively.

Disclosed herein are an expression vector capable of expressing myrcene, anstrain transformed with the vector and having improved capability of producing myrcene and a method for producing myrcene and a method for recycling glycerol using the same. In an aspect, the transformedstrain of the present disclosure can produce myrcene with high purity on a large scale using glycerol or glucose as a carbon source. Also, thestrain of the present disclosure is economical and environment-friendly because it can produce high value-added myrcene using waste glycerol as a carbon source. Vectors and strains for producing myrcene and method of producing myrcene using the same

Disclosed herein are a transformedstrain having improved capability of producing acetone and a method for producing acetone and a method for removing carbon dioxide using the same. In an aspect, the transformedstrain of the present disclosure can produce acetone with high selectivity using carbon dioxide as a carbon source. The present disclosure is economical because thestrain can economically produce high value-added acetone using carbon dioxide existing in the atmosphere as a carbon source without requiring an additional catalytic reaction. Also, the present disclosure is environment-friendly because carbon dioxide in the atmosphere can be removed or reduced using the microorganism.

Provided is a method for preparing a lignocellulosic biomass hydrolysate having toxicity reduced or removed and being used for fermentation by microorganisms, comprising the steps of: pretreating, hydrolyzing, and using an electrochemical detoxification method.

Electrochemical detoxification method of wood-based hydrolysate for producing biochemicals or biofuels

The present disclosure relates to a novel strain capable of saccharifying and fermenting biomass-derived cellulose and a recombinant strain thereof with improved biomass saccharification capability. The present disclosure also relates to a method for producing a material useful as a bioenergy source material such as ethanol, acetic acid, formic acid, etc. using the strain or the recombinant strain. The strain or the recombinant strain may be usefully used in bioenergy industry.

Provided is a method for producing alcohol or hydrogen gas comprising culturing alcohol-producing microorganisms in a waste fermented solution generated from the bioethanol production process. Glycerol included in the waste fermented solution generated from the bioethanol production process is converted by the microorganisms to butanol under an anaerobic condition. Since the waste fermented solution generated from the bioethanol production process can be utilized as a source of a biofuel, environmental and energy problems can be solved at once.
