A refrigerator having an air processing apparatus includes a first cabinet including a storage compartment and second cabinet mounted at one surface of the first cabinet includes an inlet hole and an outlet hole, a blower fan to blow the air drawn into the inlet hole towards the outlet hole, and a filter unit to filter the air drawn into the second cabinet via the inlet hole. A first PCB includes a first control unit to control at least one of a compressor and a pressure regulator, and a second PCB includes a second control unit to control the blower fan. A first mounting unit at one surface of the first cabinet defines a predetermined space which can accommodate the first PCB, and a second mounting unit at one surface of the second cabinet defines a predetermined space which can accommodate both the first PCB and the second PCB.

The cool air storage unit is configured to accommodate cool air of the freezing compartment and transfer the cool air to the first part of the thermal siphon unit arranged outside of the first inner case.

A refrigerator may include a body having a freezing chamber and a refrigeration chamber, a cooling circuit for cooling the freezing chamber and the refrigeration chamber, and a power source for supplying power to the cooling circuit. The refrigerator may further include a thermosyphon provided between the freezing chamber and refrigerating chamber. A control circuit may be connected to the thermosyphon to control a flow of refrigerant in the thermosyphon. The control circuit may include a valve provided on a circulation path of the thermosyphon, a electrical power storage device connected between the power source and the valve, and a switching circuit provided between the valve and the electrical power storage device. When the power source does not supply power to the cooling circuit, the control circuit may operate the thermosyphon using power stored in the electrical power storage device.

Refrigerator, thermosyphon, and solenoid valve and method for controlling the same

A refrigerator as disclosed herein may include a refrigerator body having a freezing compartment and a refrigeration compartment, a cooling circuit including a compressor, a condenser, and an evaporator to cool the freezing compartment and the refrigeration compartment using a first refrigerant, and a thermosyphon that includes a pipe for a second refrigerant to flow. The pipe may have a first section having a first prescribed shape for condensing refrigerant and a second section having a second prescribed shape for vaporizing refrigerant. A valve may be provided at the pipe to operate the thermosyphon. The cooling circuit and the thermosyphon may be operated independently. The thermosyphon may provide auxiliary cooling for the refrigeration chamber when the cooling circuit is not operational.

A refrigerator is disclosed herein. The refrigerator may include a compressor to compress a refrigerant, a condenser to condense the refrigerant passed through the compressor, a capillary tube that lowers a temperature and pressure of the refrigerant passed through the condenser, an evaporator to evaporate the refrigerant passed through the capillary tube, a thermal storage device for auxiliary cooling that undergoes heat exchange with the refrigerant to store thermal energy, an energy management device that receives electric rate information, and a controller configured to control the compressor based on the electric rate information received at the energy management device. The controller may control an operation of the thermal storage device to provide auxiliary cooling for the refrigerator when the compressor is not operational or when electric rates are relatively high.

Refrigerator and control method thereof

A refrigerator having an auxiliary cooling device is disclosed. The refrigerator may include a cabinet that includes a storage compartment to preserve food and a pipe for refrigerant arranged in the storage compartment to cool the storage compartment. a phase change material may provide auxiliary cooling for the storage compartment when the pipe is not operational. An enclosure for the phase change material may be provided around the pipe. The pipe may have a serpentine shape and the enclosure may be formed of a flexible material and shaped to corresponding to a shape of the pipe.

Disclosed herein is an ice maker for a refrigerator and a refrigerator having the same. The ice maker for a refrigerator may include an ice tray having a plurality of cells thereinside, an ejector configured to remove ice inside the cells, and a transfer unit configured to transfer the ice removed by the ejector in the length direction of the ice tray. Accordingly, the width of the ice maker can be reduced, thereby reducing the size of its occupied area in the width direction when the ice maker is provided therein.
