An image processing apparatus includes: a memory; and a processor configured to execute one or more instructions stored in the memory to: determine a scale weight for each pixel of original pixels in an original image based on first attribute-related information set by dividing the original image into an object region and a peripheral region, respectively; determine an additional weight for at least one pixel of the original pixels in the peripheral region, based on the first attribute-related information, and second attribute-related information that is based on an amount of a change between pixel values of adjacent pixels; and obtain a transformed image of which a size is changed from the original image, by applying at least one of the scale weight and the additional weight to corresponding pixels of the original pixels to obtain a pixel value of a transformed pixel in the transformed image.

Provided is a method of processing and transmitting three-dimensional data represented as a point cloud. The method of encoding three-dimensional (3D) data includes: generating a geometry image indicating position information of points, a texture image indicating color information of the points, and an occupancy map indicating occupancy information of the position information of the points in the geometry image, by projecting the points included in the 3D data onto a two-dimensional (2D) plane; generating a filtered occupancy map by performing filtering on the occupancy map; performing image padding on the geometry image and the texture image, based on the filtered occupancy map; and generating and outputting a bitstream including a padded geometry image, a padded texture image, a downsampled occupancy map, and information about the filtering performed on the occupancy map.

The display apparatus includes a communication interface configured to receive captured images and information related to the captured images; a display; and a processor configured to: obtain an object disparity of an object included in the captured images and a number of the captured images based on the information related to the captured images; identify whether a display disparity representable by the display matches the object disparity; based on the display disparity not matching the object disparity, generate interpolated images by performing image interpolation based on the display disparity, the object disparity, and the number of the captured images; and control the display to display a three-dimensional content based on the captured images and the interpolated images.

The present disclosure relates to a method of encoding a three-dimensional image including a point cloud. According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, a method of encoding a three-dimensional image may include determining a spatial area in a three-dimensional space represented by the point cloud, projecting, onto a two-dimensional plane, a plurality of points included in the point cloud to generate a plurality of patches, determining at least one patch corresponding to the determined spatial area, down-sampling at least one patch according to a predefined rule, generating a two-dimensional image by packing the at least one down-sampled patch and the plurality of patches corresponding to areas other than the determined spatial area, and generating and outputting a bitstream including data in which the two-dimensional image is compressed and information related to the down-sampling performed to generate the two-dimensional image.

The present invention comprises, identifying a plurality of points constituting a point cloud, and projecting the plurality of identified points onto a projection plane so as to generate a projection image, wherein the bit number of projection points corresponding to the plurality of points projected in the projection image is determined on the basis of the distance between a first point closest to the projection plane and a second point farthest therefrom, on a normal with respect to the projection plane, among the plurality of points and/or on the basis of the number of intermediate points located between the first point and the second point.

Method and apparatus for processing three-dimensional data

A method of encoding a three-dimensional (3D) image including a point cloud includes grouping a plurality of points included in the point cloud into at least one segment; generating patches by projecting the points included in the segment onto a predetermined plane in a first direction or a second direction; generating two-dimensional (2D) images by packing the patches; and generating and outputting a bitstream including information about a direction in which each point is projected to generate the patches and information about the 2D images.
